ROSY WIN IN RYDE
Two players win big with People’s Postcode Lottery
Two People’s Postcode Lottery players in Ryde, Isle of Wight, are delighted this week after their
postcode, PO33 3NB, was drawn as a winner.
Rod Cope was shocked to be presented with his £25,000 cheque by rugby legend and People’s
Postcode Lottery presenter, Scott Quinnell. “I’m over the moon,” said Rod.
Rod, 78, signed up to play People’s Postcode Lottery earlier this year to support charities. “I would
love to go to on holiday with my win,” he said. Rod, who used to be in the Royal Air Force is looking
forward to celebrating with his family.
There was one other winner in the postcode that was not available. Their money will be distributed
directly into their account.
As a charity lottery, players have raised over £66.4 million for charities and good causes across Great
Britain and internationally. One charity local to the winners is the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust,
based on the Isle of Wight. The charity has been awarded £360,818 to date from players of People’s
Postcode Lottery. The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust works with young people from all over the UK
aged 8 – 24 and uses sailing to help them regain their confidence on their way to recovery from
cancer and leukaemia.
People’s Postcode Lottery Street Prize presenter Scott Quinnell said, “It was great being on the Isle
of Wight today to meet winner, Rod. He was delighted with his win. One of the reasons players sign
up to play People’s Postcode Lottery is to support fantastic charities like the Ellen MacArthur Cancer
Trust that has a base in the Isle of Wight. Players have so far raised an incredible £66.4 million for
good causes, changing lives all over Great Britain and beyond.”
