Game one in Palatka was a wild one as the Vikings took a 2-0 advantage, scoring two quick runs off of
freshman starter Turner Edwards. The stallions answered back in the top of the third when Christian
Miller hit a monster home run over the centerfield fence. This gave the stallions the lead briefly before
the Vikings answered back in the bottom of the third with a single run. The Vikings pitching shut out the
Stallions bats for the rest of the game as their offense added three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth
to take the game 7-3.
Game two on Saturday was another wild one. The Stallions were facing Brunswick CC from North
Carolina. Starter Garrett Brown cruised through the first three innings before giving up a two run home
run in the fourth and a single run in the fifth before the stallions answered back with one in the bottom
half of the frame. Desperately needing a spark plug….Jo Jo Harrison was called on to pinch hit. Hit lined
a 1-1 fastball into the left field corner for a leadoff double. This got the Stallions going as they scored
two in the frame to notch the score at 3. In the top of the tenth, Brunswick loaded the bases with no
outs before Eric Lee came into the game and induced two weak fly balls and a strike out to end the
inning. In the bottom of the tenth, Christian Miller reached base on a walk and moved over to second
base on a ball that got by the catcher. The stage was set for Trevor Moncrief who delivered the game
winning two out RBI single to give the Stallions their first win of the year.
This was also the first win as a head coach for Coach Robert Morgan who said that it was a complete
team effort. The guys played hard and got it done. Morgan used every available position player that he
had on the bench as well as three pitcher. 18 players in total were used in the win. The Stallions are
back in action this weekend as they take on Wallace CC of Dothan in a noon start at Stallion field.
