Safeguarding Team - Based in Yeovil
Our safeguarding teams work with children who are in need of support and protection, as well as those
in the Public Law Outline process.
It will be your responsibility to ensure the delivery high quality social care services to vulnerable
children and families in Yeovil. We’ll look to you to ensure clarity and motivation around our
organisational priorities, particularly Children’s Improvement and financially sustainable services. Most
importantly, you’ll provide exceptional management, driving performance and ensuring positive
outcomes for those children we work with.
You’ll manage a team of up to 7 social workers who should each carry caseloads of around 14

Educated to degree level in a recognised Social Care qualification, and registered as a Social Worker

CLERK TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The Ashlands and Misterton Federation are seeking a Clerk to the Board of Governors.
The board, through its appointed and elected governors, plays a distinctive and essential role in the
continuing success and development of the school.

The clerk’s job is to work with the chair, other governors and headteacher, in dealing with
administrative matters for the board and advising on procedural issues of governance and the board’s
statutory duties. Central to the role is preparing for, taking notes at and producing minutes for
meetings.
The post involves evening work and the successful candidate should be available at times during the
day for consultation. Good keyboard skills and the ability to write agendas and produce accurate
concise minutes are essential. Integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.
New clerks receive advice, support and training from the Somerset Governor Services Team and all
clerks are encouraged to attend termly briefings in their locality to update themselves on the latest
developments in governance.
The post will initially involve 10-12 hours work for each meeting and, typically, there will be 6- 8
meetings each academic year. The clerk may be asked to take on additional work according to need
