The Trinity One God in 3 persons: Have the children name the 3 persons. Using your Right Hand, raise
one finger for each and keep them spread apart like a “W.” “Three Persons (bring your fingers
together and slide your left hand down around the 3 fingers = sign language for Trinity) in one God”.
1. The Father: Review God the Father in creation, Adam and Eve.
2. The Son: The Good Shepherd is Jesus- - spend some time talking about how Jesus used
parables to teach the people. Where in the Bible is this story found? The New Testament.
3. The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Trinity- talk about St. Patrick explaining the Trinity to
the Irish using a common plant (the shamrock).
The Holy Trinity = 3 Persons in One God (spend time on the 3 fingers as individuals and together) but
three identifiable persons, each fully God in a way distinct from the others.
*Make 3-heart necklace with craft hearts and yarn. One heart with “Father,” one with “Son,” and one
with “Holy Spirit.” Children can decorate.
Trinity: Three-legged race if time permits - silly way to show 3 in one (3 legs move as one unit to be
effective).
Waiting: ask: Have you ever waited for something good to happen? Solicit examples.
Give children bottle of bubbles. Tell them they have to wait while you tell them a story from the
Bible. The 12 Tribes of Israel- Moses needed to count the Israelites because they were living in a
hostile place and needed to be able to defend themselves against the others. (Numbers 1:1-3). The
head of each family gathered everyone together and counted the men of fighting age. A census…
going somewhere to be counted (to be used again at Christmas time). If you have a brother stand by
teacher A; if you don’t, stand by teacher B. If you are a girl/boy; If you have a dog/or not; if you are a
Catholic/or not (- a gentle reminder- it’s amazing how many of the students don’t know that they are
Catholic).
Still waiting: How do you feel when you wait for something good to happen? Finally, let them blow
bubbles (outside is best).
Connect: People waited a long time for Jesus. How do you think people felt when He finally came?

Our Father
Who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
Amen
To be cut into strips - one line for each child
