Andrew Grant
Managing Director of Tirian and
Co-Author of Several Resource Books on Interpersonal Dynamics
For increased organisational performance, understanding and developing team
dynamics is no longer a luxury option but a necessity.
Teams are the most effective functional units of organisations, and learning to read and
guide the team motivates and empowers team members. Anyone can help to foster an
understanding of how and why people behave the ways they do and how this affects
the group. Whether you are the leader or member of a team, you can learn to take your
team to success.
Join Andrew Grant, one of Asia’s leading presenters and facilitators in the area of
interpersonal dynamics, and discover how you can inspire, develop and lead your
organisation to success through effective teamwork.
Third Dimension Teams
Creating productive team strategies for organizational
success
Imagine the potential when talented individuals learn to work together effectively
Did you know that it takes over 1 million individual parts make up an airplane? Though there are many
unique parts, each part of the plane can never function as the plane itself. It is not the individual parts but
the completed construction that makes the plane work and gives it definition. The identity of the airplane
exists only in the function and design of the whole.
Did you realise that it is not the individual people within a group or organisation that make it work and give
it definition, but the way they interact? Like the aeroplane, the identity of the organisation exists only in the
function and design of the whole.
In groups, it is not what we achieve as individuals, but how well we combine our efforts that will produce
the best results. Each person has their own individual, specialised role to play, but without a coordination
of efforts and a similar overall goal, the whole picture is incomplete.
Combining the creative talent of individuals is vital for organizational success
Most people, as knowledgeable as they may be, have little idea of the factors that affect team functioning.
Many forces can threaten teams and hinder individuals within them from working to their best ability. Until
these are recognized and effectively dealt with, the team will struggle to perform well.
What makes a good team? How do teams learn? What are the barriers to effective group performance?
Heavy on participation and energetic dialogue, this experientially based workshop will stretch your
perceptions on the way we and the systems we live and work in either restrict or enhance our abilities to
function together.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Ideal for Executive Leaders, Managers and Supervisors in any area of the organisation. Also suitable for
developing potential leaders, and for building teams at any level. With a particular focus on the
contemporary Asian context, this workshop meets the specific needs of “cross-cultural” teams and “virtual”
teams (teams with members based in different locations).
These sessions are highly involving and challenging. Rather than conducting simple “training” sessions,
Andrew creates “targeted learning experiences”, introducing relevant ideas which can be effectively
implemented back into the organisation.
DAY ONE
Factors for team success
What is the way ahead for improving organizational performance?
Organisations are made up of individuals. Those organizations that are keeping up with the latest
performance trends focus on the needs of the individual, not simply on reaching performance targets or
output-based goals. Individuals can best be supported in groups, and can maximize their potential in
groups, by combining their talents effectively with those of others. By identifying the strengths of groups
and developing groups into synergetic teams, the organization flourishes.
How can contemporary organizations build and support effective teams?
Working with a team is an art. Steering a team through the obstacles that lie ahead and doing it in a way
that is both efficient and considerate is not easy. By following the productive 3D Process™, your own
personal abilities will improve and you will understand how to have a positive influence on any team that
you find yourself a part of.
"No One is an Island" is one of Tirians’ uniquely designed activity programs. It is a fun and focused
way to understand about and learn to utilise different roles within a team. This workshop involves
participants in a physically challenging "Island Hopping" exercise, which explores forms of communication
and interaction and then provides the opportunity to analyse these in the context of the regular work
environment.

DAY TWO
Streamlined team performance
What can hinder team progress?
All too often teams end up under pressure and individual differences erode the progress of the team. As a result
teams can end up working at cross-purposes – pulling in different directions . For total success teams need to learn
to work in alignment, towards the same goal and with the same intentions.
How can team performance be maximized?
By helping the team to identify with the organization as a whole and recognizing the important roles each individual
plays, you can start to inspire and empower the individuals in the team. There will be a common enthusiasm and
drive to achieve when the group starts to feel motivated by having a common goal and purpose.
You can make a difference to your team, whether you are the leader or just a participant. By learning the importance
of collaboration rather than competition within teams, and by exploring practical collaborative tools, you will have the
resources to transform ineffective groups into efficient teams.

“A very memorable program that will not be forgotten for a long time. Everybody got something out of it. We had a lot
of fun, but we also learned and internalized the message about what we can do to work as a team.”
Christian Machate Managing Director & Regional Head of Human Resources
Deutsche Bank Asia Pacific
“Well organised, tremendous and extremely worthwhile” - Liz Lawson, Director, Channels Asia, Cisco
Systems Singapore
"You managed to open the minds and attitudes of the most skeptical in the group - and there were plenty.
I think one measure of your success is that before the conference, many felt the time allocated was too
long, while afterwards, the same people said the program could have gone for longer.” - Wilbur Maxino,
Citigroup, Salomon Smith Barney Hong Kong
"What you gave us was a better understanding of the group dynamics and a better way to benefit from
unrecognised strengths, opening up important sources of talent and energy that we had not recognised.
Even to this day your input still has an impact on how we solve problems and work together as a team." Chris Norton, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Bali Indonesia (voted the number one resort
in the world)
“All of us thoroughly enjoyed the content, your incredible way of teaching, and the pace it was presented.”
- Erhard Hotter, GM Sheraton Hotel Sydney (Former Regional General Manager, Sheraton
Indonesia)
“Highly effective – all participants were highly engaged for the entire time. Transferred to the workplace,
the skills discussed will improve the speed in which teams get started and increase the quality of their
results.” - Phil Pirkle, International Director of Training and Development, Newmont Mining USA
“This was a great way to find out about ourselves, our team and our leaders. You gave great thought to
the whole process.” - Don Kennedy, Vice President Sales, Seagate Technology Asia
