The editors welcome the submission of manuscripts in any of the following categories: 1. National Mechanisms for atrocity prevention, or other national-level officially established bodies that include representatives from different areas of government relevant to the prevention of atrocity crimes. GSP solicits articles that employ critical (not simply descriptive) approaches to studying these bodies, focusing on the following National Mechanisms: • Kenya, Kenya National Committee • Tanzania, Tanzania National Committee • Uganda, Uganda National Committee • Central African Republic, National Committee (not yet established) • Democratic Republic of Congo, National Committee (not yet established) • Mexico, Inter-departmental Commission on International Humanitarian Law of Mexico • Argentina, National Mechanism for the Prevention of Genocide • Paraguay, National Commission • United States, US Atrocity Prevention Board • Other national-level mechanisms for atrocity prevention 2. Critical Assessments above mechanisms in #1 and #2, looking at: • The creation, role, and position of atrocity prevention within foreign policy • Critical assessments of the failures and successes of the national or regional mechanisms (such as analysis of how the US Atrocity Prevention Board can better coordinate efforts within the US government, or coordinate prevention efforts with other national and regional mechanisms) • Analysis of atrocity prevention case studies in the last decade • The role of non-governmental organizations and civil society groups (broadly defined) in atrocity prevention 4. The editors welcome submissions that do not fall within the above categories, but are within the spirit of the symposium The symposium will be published in 2017. Articles are meant to encourage research with an interdisciplinary expertise on topical issues that can inform public policy and awareness, and to provide practitioners and professionals in the field the opportunity to connect to an audience of scholars (and vice-versa). Papers will be formatted according to GSP guidelines and submitted electronically through the GSP website via the “Submit Article” link at http://scholarcommons.usf.edu/gsp/. The only exception is that the word limit will be reduced. Please alert the editors listed below that you have submitted your article and intend the article to be considered for this symposium. After internal review by the entire GSP editorial board, the papers will be sent for double blind external review prior to inclusion.
