Judging & Announcement of Overall Winner on Day Two
of this premier annual Event for MOD & Industry
Defence Information is a premier annual 2-day Event that brings together MOD and Industry. The
UKCeB Good Practice Market Place at this Event (26th & 27th April 2017) provides an unrivalled
opportunity for MOD/Industry to showcase and share bright ideas and collaborative ways of working
amongst suppliers, customers and Defence users. It celebrates innovative Team Defence activities
and is keenly supported by the MOD who, along with Industry, recognise the value of learning from
innovative joint endeavours involving companies of all sizes - from Defence primes to the smallest
micro-businesses.
The UKCeB Excellence Award competition is open to MOD and industry teams (including hybrids of
both) or individual entrants. Within a broad scope of 'demonstrating improvements - or potential
improvements - to collaboration across defence'. The scope for subjects is deliberately wide with the
following offered as indicative guidance: business improvement and transformation; secure
information sharing; human factors; valuing information as an asset; support chain management; and,
enabling business agility. In other words, the Good Practice Market Place is an ideas forum where
finalists share project experiences and good practices with conference delegates and peers.

Entries showcasing how technology, people and processes strands interplay are particularly
welcomed. After visiting the finalists’ stands in the DI'17 Market Place, attendees are encouraged to
vote for the overall winner using the Conference App to nominate their choice. These attendee votes
will be taken into consideration by the independent panel of judges who will make the final decision.
During the second day of DI’17, the presentations will be made to the overall winner of the UKCeB
Excellence Award and to Highly Commended and Commended finalists. The winner has the
opportunity to present a short submission as part of the final plenary session of DI’17 to an audience
comprising MOD and Industry.

The UKCeB will down-select and announce the shortlist of finalists by 10th March
2017. A condition of entry is that all finalists participate in DI’17 – taking
advantage of a free stand and 2 free attendee places to demonstrate and discuss
with attendees their entries, as part of the Good Practice Market Place - held at
Shrivenham on 26th and 27th April, 2017.
The DI’17 Event has a dedicated App and DI’17 website that will showcase the
submissions of finalists to the UKCeB Excellence Award - as will the UKCeB
website at www.ukceb.net.
The DI’17 App and website will include extracts from the finalists’ submissions
for the Excellence Award. This provides another excellent opportunity to
showcase project and teamwork achievements.
