• Completetheteammanagerintroductionlettertoyourteamwithyour
detailsandhanditoutoremailtoeachfamily.Thisletterprovidesallofthe
basicinformationrequiredbyplayerfamilies.
• Collectcontactdetailsforeachplayerfamily.Keeparecord,usingthePlayer
FamiliesContactForm,foryourselfandalsoreturnacopyofthecompleted
formtome.
• Cometoanagreementwiththeparentsaboutweeklyteamsheetfees.
Explainthatanyextramoneywillgotowardsafunoutingattheendofthe
seasonandagiftforthecoach(es).Dependingonteamnumbersyoumaywish
tosetthefeeat$7ormoretoensuretheKnoxBasketballAssociationfeeis
coveredandyouareabletobuildupakitty.

Awalkoveroccurswhenateamdoesnothaveenoughplayerspresentatagame.
Theminimumnumberofplayersrequiredtostartagameis4.Therearetwotypes
ofwalkoverandbothcosttheclubmoney.A“notifiedwalkover”occurswhenthe
clubnotifiesKnoxBasketballpriortoWednesdaybeforethegame;thiscosts$50.00.
An“un-notifiedwalkover”occursifKnoxBasketballisnotifiedaftertheWednesday
priortothegamecostsis$75.00.
Toavoidawalkoverfill-inplayerscanbeused.Pleasecontacttheboysorgirls
coordinatortoarrangefill-ins.Aplayercanfill-inforanotherteamiftheyplayinthe
samegradeorplayinalowergradethantheteamtheyarefillinginfor.Aplayer
cannotfill-inforateamthatisinalowergradethantheyusuallyplay;thiswillcause
aforfeitforthatgameandwillaffecttheteam’spercentageontheladder.
Thereisnolimittothenumberofgamesaplayercanfill-inforateamatthesame
grade,butaplayerfillinginforahighergradecanonlyfill-intwice.Itisvitalthata
committeememberoverseestheprocessofarrangingfill-instoensureplayersfilling
infromalowergradearenotforcedtochangetoahighergrade.

BloodPolicy
Thehealthandsafetyofplayers,parents,andspectatorsisanimportant
responsibilityforallteammanagers,coaches,andassistantsandthereforeitis
necessarytofamiliariseyourselfandthemembersofyourteamwiththeBlood
Policy,summarisedbelow:
• Anyplayerthatisbleedingwillbeaskedtoleavetheplayingcourtimmediately
• Theaffectedplayerwillnotbepermittedtoreturntotheplayingcourtuntil:
o Thebleedingareaistreatedandsecurelycovered.
o Allbloodiscompletelycleanedfromtheplayer.
o Anyuniformitemsthathaveblood(wetordry)onthemhavebeen
exchangedforacleanuniform.
• Anybloodspiltontheflooriswipedthoroughlywiththeprovideddisinfectant
solution(see“BloodClean-UpKit”below).
• Personsattendingtobleedingplayersandbloodonsurfacesshould:
o Takeprecautionstoavoidcontactwithanybodyfluids,particularly
blood,orsoileditems,eveniftheriskislow.
o Takecaretoavoidbloodfromthewoundedplayercomingintocontact
withskinpuncturesorcuts,particularlyonthefingers,orreachingthe
eyesorthemucousmembranesofthenoseormouth.
o Alwayswearlatex,disposablesurgicalglovesinanticipationofcontact
withbodyfluidsfromthenose,mouthorawoundwhentouchingnasal
mucousmembranesorbrokenskin(abrasions,dermatitis)orwhen
handlingsoiledobjects.Theglovesmustbediscardedafteruse.
o Thoroughlywashhandsbeforeandparticularlyimmediatelyafter
contactwiththepersonbeingtreated,evenifgloveshavebeenworn.
Washallareasthathavecomeintocontactwithbodyfluids.
• Allbloodincidentsmustbereportedimmediately(viaSMSorphonecall)to
theclubsecretary.
BloodClean-upKit
Abloodclean-upkit,comprisingofdisinfectant,latexgloves,wipes,anddisposal
bagswillbemadeavailableateachtrainingvenuetofacilitatethecleanupofany

Medicals
Anyinjuriesthatcauseaplayertomissgameswillrequireamedicalcertificatetobe
supplied.Thisistoensuretheplayerremainseligibletoplayinthefinalsevenifthey
misstheminimumnumberofgames.Amedicalcertificateneedstobesubmittedto
theclubsecretarywithin14daysofthedateoftheinjury.
Providingamedicalcertificatealsoenablestheteamtousesubstituteplayersduring
finalsgamesiftheinjuredplayercannotplaybecauseoftheirinjury,butonlyif
appropriatemedicalcertificateshavebeensupplied.
Thetimelyprovisionofmedicalcertificatesensuresthatfull-strengthteamscanbe
fieldedduringfinalssoyourassistanceandunderstandinginthismatterisgreatly
appreciated.

roleasteammanagerthatyouareexperiencinganydifficultywiththecollectionof
weeklyteamsheetfeesfromplayerfamiliespleasecontactmetodiscussoptions.
TeammanagersareNOTexpectedtocoverweeklyteamsheetfeesforotherplayer
families–ifthereisagenuinereasonthatpreventsaplayerfamilyfromproviding
weeklyteamsheetfeesthenalternatearrangementscanbemade,butthisisatthe
discretionoftheFerntreeGullyFalconscommittee.
