sponsored a Poverty Immersion Simulation in our
Training Center. The hands-on simulation was designed
to help participants understand what life is like with a
shortage of money, and the abundance of stress it can
cause. It was designed to sensitize those who frequently
work with low-income families, and to bring further
awareness among policy makers and community leaders.
Participants in the simulation included local Principals
and Teachers, Doctors, Church employees and County
employees,
among others.

Jimmy Smahel
Neighborhood Representative Supervisor
Jimmy recently started with Mosaic Telecom as our
Neighborhood Representative Supervisor. He was born
and raised in Northeast Minneapolis, graduating from
Edison High School in Minneapolis. Following high
school, Jimmy attended Bemidji State University on
an academic scholarship. Jimmy moved to Rice Lake
in 1994, he spent 20 years working for Radioshack and nine years at
Verizon Wireless before coming to Mosaic. He is married, and has
a small dog. Like many Wisconsinites, Jimmy loves to fish and hunt.
When he is not in the woods or on the lake, he enjoys going camping or
simply sitting on the deck playing cards with family and friends.

Using your Internet for Home
Convenience
Class Time: 1 - 2 p.m.
This class will introduce attendees
on how to use your current
internet connection for additional
conveniences at home. We will
demo a camera that can send
pictures when it senses movement
or a break-in, a thermostat that can
turn on the heat if your home gets
too cold, and a smoke alarm that
can contact your phone directly if it
senses any smoke or CO2. To end
the class, we will show you how all
of these devices can work with each
other to give you peace of mind.

Skills
Class Time: 1 - 2 p.m.
This course will teach you the basic
skills needed to easily navigate your
computer! Learn how to operate
your Windows or Apple computer,
get online, check e-mail and print
documents. A great class for those
who are new to their computer or

refresher!

role, Pat coordinates with
contractors, engineering
firms, and other utilities companies, along with other
tasks associated with construction and upgrade of
our infrastructure. Pat has participated in Adopt-aHighway with Mosaic Telecom, helping to clean up a
section of Highway 25 near Hillsdale. He is married
with three children, and one grandchild. He enjoys
spending his free time outdoors with his family.
