At Croft, we are developing the existing play leader
scheme. We will be providing a play leader workshop.
The workshop will train you on how to create games,
set them up and how to lead them and encourage
others to join in.
You will have to commit to the role for a minimum of
2 lunch times every week. We will be recruiting 18
children from years 2, 3 and 4 to start in
September.
We will train you and help you develop all the skills
required for you to be a great play leader.
But first, we have to learn more about leadership!
Can you name a leader?
 They
can be leaders in politics, sports, education
or any other area you can think of.
Write
 On
your white board try to list as many leaders as
you can.
 Here are some examples you might recognise:
What makes a good leader?
Talk
 With
your talk partner discuss what qualities and
characteristics make a good leader.
 Share your ideas with your class and create a
class brain shower.
 Which qualities and characteristics are most
important?
Are they all important?
Think




Look at your class brain shower of qualities and characteristics.
Are all of these important to all types of leaders?
For example, does the prime minister need to have the same qualities as a football
manager?
Or would Mrs Hutchinson need the same characteristics as the queen?
Write

On your brain shower tick the qualities that would be most important to a play leader?
Now think about yourself
Think
 Which
of the qualities and characteristics
listed do you have?
 Do you think you would make a good play
leader?
Do you think you have what it
takes to be a play leader?
