After arriving at the barrier, PEER GYNT (R Woodworth) had its saddle
readjusted.
PEER GYNT and HIDDEN PROMISE (R Shafiq) bumped on jumping, with PEER
GYNT then making contact with NEO'S CLASSIC (App Y Salim). This resulted
in NEO'S CLASSIC becoming unbalanced and shifting outwards, with BLACK
SWAN (A Munro) having to be eased.
EASY DRAGON (D Beasley) laid outwards shortly after the start making
contact with PRECIOUS GEM (G Schofield).
Approaching the 1500m, CHARLIES MISSILE (M Kellady), which was racing

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ZAC ACE (N Juglall)
which revealed that the horse returned having bled. In terms of MRA Rule
92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks
of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race

when HOLY THOMAS (I Saifudin) jumped awkwardly inwards.

HIGH STREET (G Boss).
This resulted in MILITARY MIGHT becoming

Making the turn into the straight, HOLY THOMAS had to be eased when
awkwardly placed on the heels of JANGO (M Zaki).
Passing the 200m ALARANCH eased off the heels of MILITARY MIGHT, which
hung inwards abruptly.
An Objection was lodged by Jockey J Powell, the rider of second placegetter,
WINTERFELL, against LIM'S SPARKLE, being declared the winner, on the
grounds of interference over the final 100m.
After deliberation and
considering all of the evidence, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion
that near the 50m, LIM'S SPARKLE shifted outwards, thereby making contact
with WINTERFELL and carrying that gelding wider on the track. Taking into
account the alleged interference and the manner in which both horses
finished off the race, the Panel of Stewards were of the opinion that the
alleged interference had affected the result of the race. As such, the
Objection was upheld and the result was amended to read:

which rolled outwards.
Passing the 200m, PLATOON steadied off the heels of METTLESOME (App S
Shafrizal), which rolled outwards and away from NATURAL IMPULSE.
A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on GARIZA which
revealed that the horse returned with blood in a nostril, however, upon
examination, the blood was a result of a sinus injury and as such, was not
deemed to be a bleeder.
Subsequent veterinary examinations were requested on both MACARTHUR (V
Duric) and CATCH ME GREAT (N Juglall) which revealed no apparent
abnormality.
Following the running of Race 3, Jockey R Shafiq, the rider of ELITE

respond to his riding and gave ground over the concluding stages. His

Approaching the 1200m, TIME ODYSSEY (B Vorster) checked when racing to
the inside of LAUGHING GRAVY (D Browne) and NEWLANDS (G Schofield).
At a subsequent Inquiry, Jockey Browne pleaded guilty to a charge of
careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that approaching the 1200m,
he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby
carrying NEWLANDS in onto TIME ODYSSEY, which checked and lost ground.
NOVA STRIKE (D David), which was following, was also inconvenienced in
this incident. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his
record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and

that from an outside barrier, he elected to go back and settled at the rear of
the field so as not to be caught wide. He added that the gelding travelled
well and after entering the homestraight, he attempted to save ground by
taking runs to the inside in between runners. He further added that when he
placed WAR AFFAIR under full pressure near the 250m, the gelding
responded for a short distance only and then raced flat for the remainder of
the event. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination
was requested on WAR AFFAIR which revealed no apparent abnormality.
Jockey Munro, when questioned regarding the run of JUPITER GOLD, stated
that after beginning awkwardly, his mount improved quickly and he was able

gelding failed to respond to his riding and gave ground over the concluding
stages. His explanation was noted. JUPITER GOLD was impounded for
routine veterinary and analytical examination.
