SCARF INC – VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING FOR A WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK THE WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK - (WWCC) How do I apply? STEP 1: Fill in an online application form at www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au (If you do not have access to the internet, please call SCARF on 42248646 for assistance) Follow this step by step guide below to access the application form Select the ‘Working with children’ tab at the top of the screen and then select ‘Working with Children Check’ from the drop down menu. Select the ‘Start Here’ box in the right hand corner. Select ‘Apply for your check’ box from the menu selection A pop up box will come up, please select the ‘Continue and apply’ option. You can now complete the application form. Please select “VOLUNTEER” under “ Purpose for Check” Please select “EDUCATION” under the “Child Related Section” Please make sure the details you provide are EXACTLY THE SAME as the details on your identity documents. If you have submitted the form with a mistake, please redo the form to avoid problems with the proof of identity requirement at step two. Once you have submitted the form, you will receive an application number by email that looks like this: APP1234567. (NB This is NOT your WWCC Number). How to apply for a working with children check (WWCC) Sept 2015 1 SCARF INC – VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING FOR A WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK STEP 2: Present proof of your identity Go to a local NSW Motor Registry Office or the Wollongong Service Centre at Ground Floor Shop 2-3 90 Crown Street. You will need your application number and proof of your identity (100 points same as for a NSW driver’s licence). You must have both of these items for your application to proceed. PLEASE NOTE! Before you go to a NSW motor registry/Service Centre You cannot submit proof of identity on behalf of someone else. You must appear in person with your own documentation. Proof of identity cannot be performed outside of NSW. It must be completed at a NSW Motor Registry office Find a NSW motor registry There are 126 motor registries in NSW. To find the one nearest you, go to www.rta.nsw.gov.au and click “Find a motor registry” in the list of quick links. Step 3. Receiving your results You will receive your outcome and Working with Children Check number (WWCC) by email (or post if you do not have an email address). (If you have not received your results within four weeks, please email your details and application number to [email protected] ) Step 4. After you have received your results Once you have received your document of clearance from the Office of the Guardian, you are then required to contact SCARF directly and advise them of your WWC Check Number. THIS NUMBER IS NOT YOUR ORIGINAL APPLICATION NUMBER eg APP 1234567. YOUR WWC CHECK NUMBER WILL BE SIMILAR TO WWC03434343V. You must provide SCARF with your WWC Check Number to enable on-line verification of your clearance. A document is not proof of clearance until it has been verified on-line and you will not be able to start your volunteer work until your WWC Check is verified.
