LANGUAGES AT LLANHARI PRIMARY
Did you know that children are offered the opportunity to learn French and
Spanish during their time at Llanhari Primary School?
The provision of French & Spanish to Year 6 alternates each year in keeping with the language
being offered at Y Pant Comprehensive. Taught as part of the curriculum as an introduction
before they leave for secondary school, we use a colourful workbook and interactive website.
A breakfast Spanish club is held on Thursday mornings. It is run by Katherine Smith, owner
of Vale Languages, supported by LCF Ltd., a national group with over 50,000 pupils across
the UK. Katherine has 13 years of experience of providing language clubs for local children.
o Start them young
Children learn through play, songs, poems and drama and the idea is to introduce them to the
language as young as possible. Starting at such a young age means children aren’t afraid of
experimenting with sound and accents and adapt very quickly, soaking up the new language
like sponges.
o Interactive website
The children also have access to LCF Clubs award-winning interactive website, BABELZONE
http://www.lcfclubs.com/babelzoneNEW which is full of games for all ages. It encourages
them to consolidate the topics covered in club sessions and it is also a chance for you, as
parents, to see how much they have learnt.
o Annual Show
During the spring term, the children perform a show to which all parents are welcome. The
children sing action songs or perform a short play in the target language. There is also a short
certificate ceremony. The children love performing for their parents and the drama course
gives them a chance to have a go at sounding fluent in a real-life situation.

£4.95 (this provides your child with access to BABELZONE)
