Payroll Interface Solutions
Transamerica Retirement Services1 (“Transamerica”) recognizes that in order for TPAs to
effectively compete in the retirement plan space, payroll services become a vital component for
success. With more and more TPAs either acquiring a payroll company or developing a strategic
alliance with one, Transamerica is pleased to offer two distinct payroll solutions for your business.
PayStartSM 2 from Transamerica
With PayStartSM, the payroll file may be sent directly from the payroll provider to Transamerica,
eliminating the need for the plan sponsor to create and manipulate files. Once the contributions
are received by Transamerica, we send the plan sponsor and any designated payroll contact an
automated notification. The plan sponsor or their designee simply needs to approve and submit
the contribution data through our secure website, and the submission is complete.
PASS for Payroll Services
Transamerica has developed an innovative service named Plan Administration Service Support3
(PASS). PASS provides plan sponsors with support for a host of retirement-related tasks in five
distinct areas:
1. Payroll-related activities
2. Communications and notices
3. Distribution-related activities
4. Loan-related activities
5. Enrollment-related activities
PASS for Payroll assigns a PASS Specialist who coordinates all activities between the sponsor,
Transamerica, and the payroll company, and works with the payroll company to obtain the payroll
file, or works with the sponsor to secure it. Your PASS Specialist formats the file into a compatible
format for Transamerica.

3. Plan Administration Service Support (PASS) is an optional menu of varying services that the plan sponsor (and the plan’s third party
administrator) can select. PASS allows Transamerica to perform non-discretionary administrative services for the plan at the direction of the
Plan Administrator under guidelines established by the Plan Administrator in its sole discretion, and is available depending upon the plan’s
assets. Additional fees will apply for the PASS services that you choose. The plan’s third party administrator may determine availability of
these services.
