Dan’s Story
THEN…
In 2003, at age 31, Dan tore his left carotid artery sending a
blood clot to his brain resulting in a catastrophic stroke. As a
result of the stroke, Dan lost the entire left hemisphere of his
brain. He lost his right field of vision and is also paralyzed on
his right side. Doctors were not sure if he would ever
comprehend language, speak, or recognize his family again.
But no one was aware yet of what the strength of Dan’s will
and the support of his family and the community could
accomplish.
NOW…
This June is Dan’s seventh post-stroke anniversary. Dan has
exceeded all expectations of both the medical community
and his family because of an intense therapy schedule. The
primary goal is to facilitate taking Dan to his fullest potential,
but many therapies are considered groundbreaking and
therefore, not covered through traditional health care
channels. Despite these obstacles, Dan is relentless in his
pursuit of rehabilitation and makes successful milestones
year over year.
