TOURNAMENT RULES
40th International Junior Ice Hockey Tournament for the
"Chris Verwijst Memorial Cup" March 25th, 26th, 27th , 28th, 2016

















1.1 Game rules at the time of the tournament are according to the I.I.H.F. rules and game
regulations of the Netherlands Ice Hockey Federation
1.2 According to the I.I.H.F. rules all players' uniforms must be the same including the color of
their helmets (with exception of the goalies).
1.3 All players must wear I.I.H.F. approved helmets and facemasks, neck and throat protector,
goalies must wear I.I.H.F. approved headgear.
1.4 If and when a competing team wishes to propose a referee, a written request must be
submitted in due time to:

1.5 Referee proposal must be sent with a letter of approval from their country’s ice hockey
federation.
1.6 All penalties are subject to the I.I.H.F rulebook. When a player receives a game misconduct
penalty, he will automatically be suspended for the next game (with exception of the final game of
the tournament).All match misconduct penalties will be subject of the Penalty Board, consisting of
two members of the "Chris Verwijst Tournament" organization" and the referee in chief. They will
decide about a possible suspension as soon as the game involved has ended.
1.7 All participating teams must have two sets of different colored sweaters, of which one is of a
lighter color.
2.1 The "Chris Verwijst Tournament" organization is the responsible organizer of the tournament.
3.1 The tournament will take place at the:

3.2 All teams must be checked in by Thursday March 24th 2016 at 18.00 hrs.
3.3 The tournament directorate meeting will be held on Thursday March 24th 2016 at 20.15 hrs.
Each team must send a representative.
3.4 By accepting the tournament invitation, each team agrees to be present at the opening
ceremony on March 25th 2016 at 19.30 hrs and for the closing ceremony March 28th after the final
game.
4.1 A mixture of different nationalities including the Netherlands National team and the hosting
team of Tilburg Trappers will participate in the tournament.
4.2 Participants for the 2016 tournament will be made known no later than Januari 31st 2016.
4.3 Team line-ups to be received by the tournament organization by Feb 15th 2016 together with
a team picture, general team information, and a summary of the team results during the past
season to be used for tournament promotional reasons.
5.1 The 2016 tournament is open only for players born after January 1st 2000.
5.2 Tilburg Trappers (as a club team) is allowed to add players, born in 1999, to their line-up and
must have legitimate Dutch player cards.
5.3 The tournament committee will check all passports upon arrival.




















6.1 Each team will play 6 games.
6.2 The first game starts Friday March 25th at 08.00 hrs.
6.3 Cross finals start Sunday March 27th / Monday March 28th.
6.4 Final games start Monday March 28th onwards.
6.5 Duration of a game is three periods of 15 minutes each, stop time. The ice will be resurfaced
once per game during one of the intervals. Overtime will be played 4x4 as in I.I.H.F. rules
6.6 A game win is 2 points, a tie is 1 point and a loss is 0 points. Total goals per team are also
registered. In case two or more teams ending up with the same amount of points, a final decision
is made as follows:
a. The result of the game between the teams.
b. The balance of the goals; for and against.
c. The highest amount of goals scored.
d. The least amount of penalties.
e. Finals will be decided by sudden victory. [1 x 5 minutes overtime; then each team 3 Shoot-outs]
7.1 Referee allocations will be organized by the Netherlands Ice Hockey Federation.
7.2 Three members of the tournament committee and an official of the protesting team will deal
with all protests. Their decision is irrevocable.
7.3 Protests must be made at the tournament-office within 15 minutes after the final whistle of a
game by a team official. A fee of € 45.00, (fortyfive Euro) is required. The fee will be refunded if
their protest is granted.
8.1 The winner of the tournament receives a replica of the "Chris Verwijst Memorial Cup". The
original trophy will remain in Tilburg for engraving and storage.
8.2 Teams ending from 2nd to 10th place will also receive a trophy.
8.3 Each team will receive a maximum of 27 tournament souvenirs.
8.4 There are special trophies to be gained.
9.1 The total tournament entry-fee is € 850,00 Euro (eight hundred and fifty Euro). The
tournament fee of € 850,00 Euro (eight hundred and fifty Euro) must be received by our
organization before December 1st 2015 to our Banking Account if your team is selected otherwise
participation will not be guaranteed. Enrollment will only be considered valid after
receiving the team fee. NB! Team fee will not be refunded if enrollment is redrawn.

9.2 Each team is allowed to bring a maximum of 22 players to participate in the tournament.
9.3 Each team has to arrange his own hotel, including breakfast . A copy of the hotel confirmation
must be received by our organization before January 1st 2016. Lunches and dinners for players
and a maximum of 5 team officials will be served at the hockey rink. Arrival date for teams is
Thursday afternoon March 24th 2016, departure no earlier than Monday March 28th 2016 after
the closing ceremony.
9.4 When a team or one of its members causes personal or material damage to anyone or
anything, they will be charged for cost and damages.
9.5 ALL PARTICIPATING TEAMS ARE EXPECTED TO ARRANGE THEIR OWN SUFFICIENT
MEDICAL INSURANCE. The cost of medical treatment will NOT be paid by the tournament
organization. For all hockey games a first aid team is present.
9.6 All team members will receive a tournament pass for free admittance to the IJssportcentrum
Tilburg. This pass is strictly personal.
10.1 The tournament committee will settle disputes.
