Project Sheet: Theo’s Scones
Theo Kalogeracos is a world champion pizza maker, but that’s not all he can cook! Theo is a qualified Baker and
with the help of the Ferguson Corporation’s Outdoor Kitchen from their Alfresco range, he’s going to whip up some
of the tastiest scones and jam you’ve ever eaten.
Recipe
Ingredients for Scones
500g of Self-Raising Flour
375ml of Milk
1 Tablespoon of Sugar
1 Tablespoon of Salt
60g of Butter
Method for Scones
1) Pre-heat oven to 250 degrees Celsius.
2) Rub the butter with the dry mixture until combined.
3) Add in milk and knead the dough gently until smooth (don’t over knead as the dough will become tough).
4) Coat a circular cutter in flour than cut out your scones.
5) Place on a tray sprayed with olive oil, than lightly brush each scone with milk.
6) Cook in the oven for 12 – 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Ingredients for Jam
1kg of fresh strawberries
4 cups of castor sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla paste
Method for Jam
1)
Chop strawberries into quarters and put into a large saucepan
2)
Add in 4 cups of castor sugar and the vanilla paste
3)
Place on the stove on a low heat stirring the ingredients till they thicken.
4)
Increase to a higher heat bringing the mixture to a rolling boil
5)
Remove from heat and spoon into jars.
