School Lacrosse Officer programme.

English Lacrosse will interview all candidates at Head Office – Wenlock Way, Manchester

School Lacrosse Officer Position Overview
School Lacrosse Officers are usually based at a girl’s lacrosse playing school, working with a variety of
ages. You will be responsible for providing lacrosse games lessons and may also be asked to help
with other games played at the school. You may also work with regional English lacrosse Regional
Coordinators to develop lacrosse in the local universities to increased participation across the country.
You will coach different forms of lacrosse depending on age range, this will be POP lacrosse for
primary school children moving onto field lacrosse; and INTO lacrosse if involved at universities.
Along with coaching different age groups, you will be expected to officiate games for the school
teams. Working as an SLO means you become part of the school system and therefore may be given
pastoral duties such as becoming an assistant house mistress or covering other members of staff
when required.
The English Lacrosse Association will provide:
1. An induction course for each candidate as requested by the host school that includes: a
coaching award course, umpiring award and individual interviews about their own position.
2. An English Lacrosse officer to assess the programme, programme assistance and
troubleshooting, as required by the school.
3. Links to other employment opportunities to include: Triple Arrow Camps and the Girls Talent
Programme.
4. An annual Programme managers meeting for schools to discuss the programme with others.
The School will provide:
1. A contract for the SLO.
2. A job description.
3. An outline of tasks including lesson requirements, specialist teaching skills needed by the SLO
and number of teaching hours.
4. An outline of tasks including pastoral duties and other peripheral duties.
5. Provide a weekly working schedule for the SLO.
The School Lacrosse Officer will provide:
1. Quality lacrosse coaching in curriculum and extra curriculum time.
2. Quality lacrosse coaching for school teams outside lesson time.
3. Lacrosse umpiring for school teams.
4. Support for the Physical Education teachers within the school such as designing practices,
selecting teams, organization of transport, team teaching, etc in Lacrosse.
5. Support for the Physical Education curriculum in other sports throughout the contract,
where appropriate and directed.
6. Support for the recreation programme within the school.
7. The school with housing duties, where employed at a boarding school. We recommend that a
maximum of two evening and two morning duties are ideal.
8. Classroom assistance, where appropriate, such as cover for teachers, examination invigilation
and study groups.
9. The school with Lacrosse coaching in satellite schools, where directed.
10. The school with assistance, within reason, when required.
11. Support other ELA development programmes externally, as relevant, with prior agreement
with the host school.
