the nurse will receive a pass to give to their
teachers and the attendance clerk.



If you are sick before school ----please stay
home. By coming to school, you are spreading
germs to other students.
IF you are NOT seen by the nurse, you will NOT
get a nurse’s excuse!
Nurse Pennington does not have access to the
training room. If you play a sport and get hurt,
you must notify your coach, athletic trainer, or
athletic director (Mr. Ginter). The nurse DOES
NOT treat athletic injuries. However, you may
come to the nurse for illness or pain due to a
sport injury.




Any student with a food allergy should notify the


Plato is our credit recovery system ---an
online program for students who are
lagging behind with credits.

remain with your class, you will be
assigned PLATO as a class or attend
sessions after school.
If you know that you are lacking a credit,
please see your guidance counselor
immediately.


RCSHS has purchased a $300 ACT prep
course that will be available for student use
FREE, after school from 3:05 to 4:30.
Students must sign up to use the ACT prep
program with front office. ACT scores may
be the most important grade (score) for
students. These scores will keep them
eligible to take dual credit courses while in
high school, allow them to enter colleges of
their choice and receive scholarships


9th grade: MAP testing, Algebra I exit exam--students must pass the Algebra I exit exam to
receive credit for that class (even if the class
grade is passing). Students who do not pass the
exam should enroll in summer school to makeup the Algebra I credit
10th grade: Map testing, PLAN, End of Course
English II, End of Course Algebra II (some
students) End of Course Biology, ON-Demand.
The end of course assessments, which are our
state assessments, will count 20% of the final
class grade.


11th grade: ACT, End of Course Algebra II, End of
Course US History, On-Demand. End of course
STATE assessments count 20% of your final class
grade.
The ACT is one of the most (maybe the MOST)
important test you will take. The ACT score will
determine whether or not you can get into
college –or the college or your choice, whether or
not you will be required to take remediation
courses in college (with no credit given), and
whether or not you can receive college
scholarships.




Your GPA is very important when determining
class rank and gaining admittance to certain
colleges and scholarships.
GPA is calculated using EACH trimester’s final
grade.
Valedictorian and Salutatorian are considered 1st
and 2nd in the class and will speak at graduation.
FINALS will be given in all core classes (math,
English, science, and social studies). Finals will
be comprehensive and count for 20% of the final
grade. Other courses will give finals at the
teacher’s discretion.
Your transcript is a VERY important document.
It is part of your college admittance
paperwork, scholarship eligibility, military
acceptance, driver’s license eligibility, and
athletic eligibility.
EACH trimester final grade is recorded on your
transcript. Each recorded grade denotes ½
credit of class work.




Undergraduates will have class pictures taken on
Tuesday, August 23
Senior pictures (with several poses), one which will be
used for the 2012 Senior Composite will be taken
Wednesday and Thursday, August 24 and 25.
Seniors, you MUST be present one of these days or
you will NOT be part of your class picture. There will
be NO retakes.
SENIORS--The cap and gown/graduation
representative (CHARLIE) will be here on these two
days to take orders for your graduation needs.
Please take time to look at the past two years’
composites in the front lobby.



You will receive several forms today. It is
very important that you fill out all forms
and return them ON TIME
Returning your lunch form is REQUIRED,
even if you do not qualify for free or
reduced lunch. Simply mark the form
“will not qualify” across the top.
All forms must be turned in to the front
office.



The most successful students are those who
GET INVOLVED in their school.
Join a club, an athletic team, a co-curricular
team!
During the first few weeks of school, a club
fair will be organized during lunch to allow
students to sign up for clubs. Community
Service (which is part of many clubs) is a very
important part of your college
admission/scholarship application.




Clubs will be held during activity period on
Friday’s. This is also the time for many other
activities to take place, such as college recruiters,
ILP’s, guest speakers, etc.
Students will also use this time to participate in
remediation with courses in which they are falling
behind or missing work. Teachers will send a
request to the office for specific students. If you
are failing a class, you will be expected to use
this time as a study period instead of attending
clubs.
This year students will remain in activity period
for the first 10 minutes, with NO ONE allowed in
the halls at that time.
Then we will break for clubs or content area
remediation.
