And they won’t find a better showcase than imm cologne. They have to see the connections between lighting and furniture, between lighting and textiles. And that’s what we do best.” Dick Spierenburg Creative Director Pure Editions Hall 3.1, 3.2, 2.2 Enthralled by lighting Focus Lighting has two essential aspects: atmosphere and function. Pure gives each of them their own space. The focus at Pure Editions is on decorative lighting. It places the lamp as an interior design object on an equal footing with furniture, presenting lighting as part of exhibitors’ interior design concepts and allowing it to unleash the full potential of its atmospheric strengths. The new Pure segment, Pure Architects, gives technical lighting its own platform, where networking, digitalisation and smart home are the buzzwords. Pure Editions Hall 3.2 Pure Editions Lounge Pure Editions Hall 2.2 Pure Editions Club Pure Hall 3.1 Schedule The Stage Pure Editions Hall 2.2 Event: Das Haus 2017 - Todd Bracher 2018: Focus Light Pure Editions Hall 3.2, 2.2 Creative installations Featured Editions: Furniture is more than just furniture – it is a cultural asset with a history, a designed object with functions and an aesthetic dimension, which should be considered from different perspectives. The product as an aesthetic statement and documentation of a process, as a part of a whole in which furniture, textiles, materials and light interact to create a space – Featured Editions is a stage for products like these. Featured Editions is an exclusive exhibition format that imm cologne offers Pure Editions exhibitors as a statement in the form of an installation. Instead of having a single central location, the exhibition is staged in ten pyramids spread across the hall and reflects the open structure of its architecture. Limiting the exhibition to ten pyramids guarantees an exceptional standard of quality and ensures that its statement to the public and the media is brief and to the point. All exhibitors interested in participating must apply with a concept that they will develop in collaboration with a creative professional – a designer, architect, interior architect, craftsman or artist. The entries will be selected and the concepts staged by imm cologne’s cooperation partner Stylepark (www.stylepark.com). Pure Editions Hall 3.2, 2.2 Featured Editions 2018 2018: Focus Light Exhibition Planning: Dick Spierenburg; Koelnmesse 2018: Focus Light Pure Editions Hall 3.2, 2.2 Enthralled by lighting Featured Editions What effect does lighting have on a space? What forms can lighting and shadow take? What does lighting do to furniture? How do furniture and lighting interact? Could we even make furniture from lighting? Are the two categories becoming blurred? Does matter swallow up light, or does light swallow up matter? These are not the kind of questions that get discussed at a trade fair stand – but they inspire architects and designers who work with light, from lighting designers to interior designers. Or they do at Featured Editions 2018. After taking Textiles as its theme for imm cologne 2017, Featured Editions will explore lighting at the next international interiors show. Lighting objects, lamps, furniture as the bearer, reflective surface, matrix or focus of light, as its partner and adversary, will be staged in “stretch pyramids” – transparent, textile-covered spaces forming cell-like, geometric bodies that emanate light from within and can be seen from afar. The installation is another experiment by the Pure Editions platform that will demonstrate the creative responses that can be produced when furniture manufacturers and lighting designers work towards the same objective.
