Project & Consulting Services Manager
REPORTS TO:
DIRECT REPORTS AND TEAM SIZE:
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
This role has 5 direct reports, and a team of
approximately 60 project pool employees and
contractors.
THIS ROLE EXISTS TO: (PURPOSE)
The purpose of the Project & Consulting Services Manager role is to manage the pool of project
resources to ensure that resources are efficiently and effectively allocated to prioritized projects
across the digital portfolio to support each project to deliver within the constraints of its approved
business case.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:










Ensure the effective and efficient deployment and redeployment of appropriately skilled
resources to each project within the portfolio, for the duration required by the project, to
support the successful delivery of digital technology projects.
Ensure the effective and efficient deployment and redeployment of appropriately skilled
resources to each consulting services assignment, for the duration of the assignment, to
support the successful delivery of business-led initiatives.
Optimise the allocation of resources across projects within a domain and across the domains
to ensure effective and efficient resource utilisation.
Forecast anticipated workforce skills and volumes based on portfolio demand.
Work with preferred suppliers to evaluating and providing strategic sourcing options for
project capability and capacity that exceeds supply.
Manage the on-boarding and off-boarding processes, including project personnel induction.
Evaluate the performance of contract resources in conjunction with Program Delivery and
Project managers to manage contract renewals and cancellations.
Providing reporting on workforce utilisation to ensure appropriate levels of cost recovery and
resource utilisation.
Actively contribute to and lead a high performing team aligned with and committed to MW
vision and strategy. Team members show high levels of collaboration, accountability and
innovation; consistently producing superior results.
Taking care of own and colleagues Health and Safety through identification and reporting of
hazards and active involvement in improvement initiatives.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:









Extensive project sourcing experience within a large and complex portfolio function, and
proven proficiency managing major spend categories.
Extensive experience in managing a large resource supply function, within a fast-paced
transformation environment.
Demonstrated experience and understanding of sourcing project related services
Proven experience in strategic workforce sourcing and planning
Possess analytical, conceptual and structured thinking.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Proven track record in leading, developing and managing diverse, cross-functional teams.
Sound financial and commercial acumen.

SALARY RANGE:
Melbourne Water reserves the right to remunerate people according to their ability to perform the
functions of the role based on their qualifications, skills and experience.

technology or management related area.
