The Plot
Jack started playing professional football for Huddersfield Town before
the war, but then the war broke out. Whenever he was playing and the
war was taking place , protesters would tell them they should go and
join the war and stop playing football . Jack got so annoyed with them
that he eventually went to the London, to the war signing up office
and joined. There were many different battalions but Jack chose the
footballers battalion. He had to have a lot of training before he joined
the war. It wasn’t long before he had finished his training and was
quickly promoted to a Corporal. A lot of people who he knew died but
fortunately he survived. When the war ended he had a transfer to
Chelsea and was also called up to the England national squad. From
there he continued his football career.
A Description Of My Favourite Character
Jack is my favourite character. I like him because of his
personality. I also like that no matter what gets in his way in
life, he still follows his dream of being called up to the
England national squad. He loves playing football even if it
is in the trenches. He’s fairly tall with short black hair.
Why I like This Book
I like this book because I love football and war stories. This is
about both and it’s in one story!
Recommendations
I would recommend this book to anyone over six years old
because every now and again it gets a bit upsetting. If you
like war stories and/or football stories you will surely love this
one.
