when using the Internet Explorer. If you are not sure about your browser, please use Internet Explorer
to download.
*** Please Note: You will need a CIHI account to download the products from CIHI’s
website. Please contact your account manager for your account access information. If you
don’t have an account, contact the CIHI Order Desk for information about setting up an

There are 2 items to download:
I.
The product i.e. the Classifications ; and
II.
The default 5 concurrent multi-user license.

When you click on the link for the product, you will see a file download popup screen.
Click on “Save” button and save the .zip file to your preferred location in your local
drive. This location must not be the folder for the v2009 ICD-10-CA/CCI classifications.
For example, if your v2009 is in C:\CIHI folder, please save the file somewhere else.

Saving the downloaded licence file is similar. We recommend you save the licence file
(.zip) in the same folder as the product file (.zip file).

Launching v2012 ICD-10-CA/CCI
*** Please Note: When you launch Folio Views from the shortcuts, instead of opening an
Infobase (.NFO) file, you should always open the 2012-compatible Shadow File (.SDW) file
from the .SDW shortcut. A new “upgrade shadow” feature is embedded in both the v2012
ICD-10-CA and CCI .SDW products. This feature allows you to quickly merge your v2009
shadow files into the v2012 classifications.
The only difference between the Folio .NFO file and the .SDW file is essentially the suffix in the
file name and the Title Bar of the Folio Views application will have a “Shadow” .SDW (see
below). All functionality will be the same in the .SDW as an .NFO file, with the addition that you
3
will now be able to merge your 2009 Shadow File into this .SDW and add new Shadow File
Notes, Highlighters, and Bookmarks.

Go to - Start > Programs > CIHI Publications Group > CCI ICD-10-CA 2012 and
click the shortcut named “ICD-10-CA - Shadow – English” or “CCI - Shadow –
English” (see below). This will launch Folio Views with the ICD-10-CA or CCI
blank 2012 Shadow (.SDW) file.

Please read the instructions on how to Upgrade a v. 2009 Shadow File into the
v. 2012 .SDW \V 2012 Shadow File upgrade.docx
