Healthy Wealden
Health and Wellbeing
Strategy 2017- 2020
Wealden’s Corporate Plan states that people in Wealden should
have the opportunity to enjoy a good quality of life through:
• Helping to build stronger, more self-reliant communities
• Working with our partners to help Wealden residents become
healthier
This is reflected in the new
Health and Wellbeing Strategy
The cost of no action is that our nation will need to spend billions
of pounds on wholly avoidable illness .

Health and Wellbeing Strategy
2017 - 2020
The Council already does much to improve and maintain health and
wellbeing of the population through its work in such areas as housing,
environmental health, planning, leisure, economic development and other
services.
But we are keen to add to this. It is considered that there are three key
outcomes where the Council can make the most difference to our
residents, these reflect those listed in the Sport England Strategy:
‘Towards an Active Nation’ (2016- 2021):
•
Physical and mental wellbeing (Including individual development)
•
social and community development
•
economic development.
*New activities to be measured by Sport England are
walking, cycling and dance.
Physical Activity:
If exercise could be packed into a pill, it would be
the single most widely prescribed and beneficial
medicine in the nation.
