Friday, November 4, 2016 Elementary School, 260-493-7400 ext. 230 www.blackhawkchristian.org It was a warm, sunny day for our 1st graders’ trip to “Merry Lea Farm!” We learned much about “sustainable” farming practices, teaching us ways to protect and enjoy various ecosystems created by God. On the farm we saw/fed turkeys, hens/roosters, and pigs, as well as nice hiking to the various farming areas. We saw huge gardens growing vegetables and herbs, and we got to find all the ingredients for a spaghetti sauce (which made us hungry for our picnic.) We also enjoyed hiking through and learning about the woodland and meadow ecosystems. Later, we participated in a relay race to assemble the supplies needed to make grape jelly. Our tasting items were: honey, tomatoes, and apples! It was all around a beautiful, fun, educational, and yummy experience! Chess Club News: King's Court had three players level up last week. Mason Thompson, 6A, and new this year, moved up to Knight Rank. Boston Miller, 6A, and Jayden Barnfield, 5A, advanced to the coveted Queen Rank. And the word is out that Brennan Miller, 5A, took down Ms. Walts in a great game! You earned your crown in that one, Brennan. Chess Mates had four beginners level up to the Knight Rank and they can now begin to play some real games of chess for wins. Jaxson Stauffer, 4B, moved up to the Bishop Rank. And Braden Gibson, 4B, advanced to the Rook Rank this week! Good job guys. FALL BACK Don’t forget to set your clocks back 1 hour. Daylight savings time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, so enjoy your extra hour of sleep! Join us for an evening to help Blackhawk Christian Students THRIVE in their world for Christ. Now more than ever, Christian values need to permeate lives and change the direction of the world. It is imperative that the mission of BCS Preparing Hearts and Minds to Serve Christ continues to develop our children and their future. Will you join us in our efforts on November 12th? To donate a tax-deductible gift or service at this event contact Abbe Starr, [email protected]. Your attendance will help equip leaders for Christ, enabling their faith to flourish in a lost culture.
