A More Flexible Way to Manage Clouds: Portable License Unit
vRealize Suite is licensed on a new metric called a Portable License Unit (PLU). If you run your applications on vSphere
or use a range of public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure*, and vCloud Air you will love VMware’s new Portable
License Unit (PLU). A PLU provides flexibility for managing workloads on on-premises VMware vSphere, supported
public clouds, third-party hypervisors or physical servers using the same license type.
For example, with a VMware PLU, you can:
• Switch vRealize licenses between private and public cloud
• Switch licenses between vSphere and non-vSphere hosts
• Manage unlimited VMs deployed on a vSphere CPU
• Or manage up to 15 Operating System Instances (OSIs)
deployed on supported public clouds (such as AWS, Azure*,
vCloud Air, and vCloud Air Network) or other hypervisors
AND GOOD NEWS: YOU DON’T PAY ADDITIONAL LICENSE FEES AND THE PLU METRIC SWITCHES AUTOMATICALLY WHEN
