Trade, Labor, Economic Models, and U.S.

Trade, Labor, Economic Models,
and U.S.-Cuba Relations
June 23- July 1, 2017
!
As the relationship between the United States and Cuba
continues to unfold, the impact of U.S. policy on Cuba is
more important to explore than ever. This delegation will
explore the impact of the U.S. embargo on the island, and
the impact of the recent “normalization” between the two
countries, including trade relationships. Delegates will
meet with Cubans from all sectors of society to learn about
the history of the Cuban model, its achievements and
struggles, the labor market on the island, and Cubans’
visions for the futures. The economic models of Cuba and
United States will be compared and contrasted. Come
learn about Cuba from Cubans themselves and
understand what U.S. policy changes can be made to
promote fair trade with the Cuban people.
Participants on this delegation will:
• Hear from Cubans first-hand about the effects of the U.S. embargo on the
island
• Explore Cuban national priorities, such as universal education and
healthcare
• Learn about the Cuban labor market and the economic model of Cuba
• Discover how U.S. policies on trade affect the island and its people
