Unit will host a Cadet Physical Challenge Event at 0800 on 24
September 2016 at Grenada High School. The events are explained
below. Teams must register by 11 September in order for Grenada to
have team schedules for the event organized. Judges will be provided
through the armed services (National Guard from Camp McCain). The
entry fee for the event is $30.00 per team, make checks out to Grenada
High School NJRTOC/NNDCC. If you would like to participate please
fill out the entry form and send it along with the entry fee to Chief
Reese Foreman at Grenada High School no later than 12 September 2016.
2. Team composition. Teams will be composed of five team members.
Teams may be male, female and mixed (mixed teams must have at least
two female participants).
3. Awards. Awards will be given for first through sixth place in
each category (male, female, mixed).
4.
Events
a. Trolley Ride
This is a timed team event. The Trolley is made from two 4 x 6
beams 12 feet long with ropes placed every 12 inches. The team will
begin behind the start line with five members on the trolley holding
the ropes. The time begins when the team rides the trolley 25 yards
down the course, passed the cone on the other end of the course with
all members on the trolley. The time stops when the Trolley is
completely passed the cone.
All members will be on the Trolley while
moving.
No restarts. There will be a time limit for this event to
be determined by the day of the meet.
b. Pull Ups (men)/Flexed Arm Hang (women):
Team score will be the total number of points earned 5 team members
Pull Ups - Men: Hands may be placed in either the pronated (back of
hands towards participant) or supinated (back of hands away from
participant) positions. At the start, arms shall be fully extended in
a static hang. No swinging, kicking, or “bicycle legs” are allowed.
The body will be raised until the jaw line is above the bar. Arms must
go back to the fully extended position to complete the cycle. Going
from fully extended arms to jaw line above the bar counts as one
repetition. Feet may not touch the ground. Competitors may rest in the
arms extended position. Spotters will be positioned to assure the
safety of the participant. The score shall be the total number of
points earned.
Flexed Arm Hang - Women: This is a timed event. Either the pronated
or supinated hand positions may be used. The competitor may stand on a
chair, steps, or ladder or be assisted into position where her chin is
above the bar. Once the competitor is in the proper starting position
she will step off the platform or be released by the assistant.
Swinging, kicking, or “bicycle legs” are not allowed. Spotters will be
positioned to assure the safety of the participant. The competitor
shall keep her chin above the bar as long as possible. As soon as the
competitor’s chin touches the bar or falls below the bar, time will be
stopped. Feet may not touch the ground. The score will be recorded to
the nearest second.
c. Ammo-can relay. Each ammo can weigh 20 pounds. Time starts
when the first cadet crosses the start line. Each cadet will run 25
yards from the starting point to a cone, go around the cone and return
the 25 yards to the starting line. Once across the starting line the
next cadet takes the ammo cans (2) from the runner and runs the same
course. This is repeated until all cadets have run the course.
Cadets must exchange the ammo can behind the starting line and cannot
receive any assistance while running the course. If an ammo can is
dropped, a cadet may pick it up and continue to run from that point.
Cadets are not allowed to throw ammo cans. Cadets cannot use any
device or equipment to assist them in carrying the ammo cans. The time
stops and the team score is recorded after the last cadet crosses the
finish line (start line).
d. 100 yard relay. Each cadet will run 100 yards and hand off a
baton to their teammate. Time will be recorded after the last team
member crosses the finish line. The fastest time wins. Bring batons
if you have them. This will require starting on one end of the
football practice field and running to the 50 yard line passing a cone
and returning to the starting point to hand off the baton to a
teammate. It continues until the entire team has run the course.
e. Tire roll. Time starts when the first cadet crosses the
starting line with the tire. The cadet rolls the tire 25 yards from
the starting point to a cone, goes around the cone and returns the 25
yards to the starting line. Once across the starting line the next
cadet rolls the tire along the same course as the first. This will be
repeated until all team members have run the course. Cadets must
exchange the tire behind the starting line and cannot receive help
while traversing the course. The tire must be rolled with the cadet
having complete control of the tire while moving within arms reach.
If a tire falls, the cadet may pick it up and continue from that
point. Tires will not be thrown or carried. No devices or other
equipment may be used to help the cadet roll the tire. The time stops
when the last cadet crosses the finish (start) line. Tires that roll
outside the team lane will result in a 10 second penalty. Tires that
interfere with another team’s negotiation of the course may result in
team disqualification.
5. Score sheets. Score sheets will be maintained by the judges at
each station and will be completed by the team when they check in.
Only those cadets assigned to run score sheets will handle them and no
one is to stop or interfere with a score sheet runner.
6. Start of the event. The PT challenge will begin with a shotgun
start. Each team will be required to report to a specific station for
the start and then will rotate to new stations until all teams have
completed all events. We will have a school team tug of war at the
end of the PT challenge to fill time while the scorekeeping is being
completed. Team membership for the tug of war will be 10 team members
with at least two being female students. Team members cannot wear
boots or cleats, tennis shoes are the preferred foot attire.
There will be first through sixth place trophies for tug of war.
7. Coaches must provide a roster of each competition team to Chief
Foreman with each team member listed and the team captain identified
on the roster upon arrival at Grenada High School.
