Alive-O (Junior Infants)
Term 1: Lesson 13
Simeon and Anna Wait
Do you like waiting?
What do you wait for?
How do you feel when you are waiting for your
birthday?
What are you waiting to happen next in your
day?
Are you looking forward to anything today?
Anna was a young girl. She was good at waiting.
She lived at the same time as Mary and Joseph.
Anna knew that a great leader would be born
soon. She waited, hoping that she would
meet him sometime in her life.
Anna prayed to God, asking Him to let her meet
Jesus when He was born.
Anna knew that God would not let her down.
When Anna grew old, she went to the Temple
every day watching, waiting and praying to
meet Jesus.
Simeon was a young boy. He, like Anna, was
good at waiting. He lived at the same time as
Anna and in the same village.
Like Anna, Simeon knew that Jesus would be
born soon and he waited, hoping that he would
meet him sometime in his life time.
Simeon prayed to God, asking Him to let him
meet the new leader when He was born.
Simeon knew that God would not let him down.
When Simeon grew old, he went to the Temple
every day watching, waiting and praying to
meet Jesus.
One day, as Simeon and Anna sat in the Temple
praying to God, the doors opened. Anna and
Simeon looked up. At last their waiting was
over! Who do you think came in the door?
Like Simeon and Anna, you are waiting for
Jesus’ birthday so that you may welcome Him
into your heart. Are you getting ready like Anna
and Simeon?
