Job Description: Quantity Surveyor / Estimator As a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator you will manage and plan all costs associated with various types of construction projects, from the outset until completion. You will be required to negotiate with all staff, from site workers to directors, in a professional and fair manner. You will have excellent verbal and written skills and work in line with the company’s ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System. Estimating Your role will include: Receiving tender documentation and preparing subcontract and supplier enquiry documents. Preparing tender / estimates ready for adjudication with the directors, including any taking off as necessary, to create a comprehensive priced document, on time for submission. Liaison with client team to complete any value engineering that may be necessary to progress the project to site. Surveying Your role will include: Procurement of labour only subcontractors (bricklayers, carpenters) for projects. Agreeing and valuing fortnightly payments. Prepare monthly project valuations and source certification, raising invoices and attending monthly project site meetings. Payment and settlement of subcontractor accounts. Re-measurement and pricing of variations and day works. Monthly preparation of internal cost value comparison (CVCs) on each project for comment by directors, and inclusion in monthly accounts. Preparation of cash flow forecast and final account analysis on a monthly basis. Preparation and agreement of project final accounts with client representatives. Skills You will possess the following skills: Good understanding and knowledge of the construction industry is vital, including the ability to read architectural drawings and understand the construction process. The ability to prepare contractor’s quantities from specifications and drawings. The ability to fit in well, work as a team member and have initiative, enthusiasm and good leadership skills. Qualifications/Requirements Experience working as lead QS on projects and tenders. Quantity Surveying or Building / Construction related qualification. Salary This will be based on qualifications and the level of experience in the construction industry. Working hours and Environment Working hours are 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday with a 1 hour lunch break. You may be required to work the occasional late evening or weekend.
