Dear Families and Friends of Christ Lutheran School,
In last week’s newsletter we made mention of cross country team’s fantastic season. In congratulating
and listing our runners, we inadvertently left out the name of 8th grader Jon Sparks. Jon had
a great season, showing dedication, enthusiasm, improvement and leadership in his position
as one of the varsity runners. Our apologies for forgetting you last week, Jon!
Congratulations on a great season and best of luck to you as you run for your high school’s
squad next year!
Now, the rest of the news – trying not to forget anyone or anything…

Our preschool classes (3K and 4K) along with our
kindergarten class and our 1st – 4th graders (all of Mrs. Janke’s,
Mrs. Lindeman’s, Mrs. Mack’s and Mrs. Mastrocola’s kids)
sing in church this Sunday, October 19th, during the 8:00 A.M.
service. The 1st – 4th graders should meet in the church
basement by 7:45 A.M. The preschool classes and the kindergartners should meet in the narthex area of the
church. The kids will worship together as a group during the 8:00 A.M. service. This group will not sing at
the start of the 10:45 A.M. service. Our Sunday School students have that honor this Sunday. The Sunday
School students will meet together after classes on Sunday and line-up in the school’s lower level and walk
over to church as a group. After they sing at the start of the service, they will be dismissed to their parents.
May God bless the efforts of our children as they sing His praises!

Congratulations (AGAIN) to our “B” Volleyball Team!
After taking the LAA Midwest Conference Crown with an undefeated season (see last
week’s newsletter) our Crusader girls’ “B” volleyball team hosted the eight team Christ
Lutheran Invitational this past Saturday. After winning their pool, the girls advanced to the championship – a
three game match against Christ the Lord Lutheran. Dropping the first game, our girls battled back to win
games two and three giving them the tournament championship! Well done, girls! Congratulations to you and
Coach Weide on your terrific season!
We’d like to add a very special THANK YOU to all those who
helped with the tournament. The day went very, very well! We appreciate
all your time and effort! We could not have had such a successful day
without your help. Thank you very much!
“A” Volleyball Update
Our Crusader girls entered the LAA Midwest “A” Volleyball Tournament this past Tuesday, and with
wins over Good Shepherd Lutheran and St. John’s / St. Paul’s Lutheran have advanced to the championship
game tonight! We wish them the best of luck as they work to win a championship for CLS!
The following article was written by our own “A” volleyball coach, Mrs. Mastrocola:
The Crusader volleyball “A” team had a knock down, drag out tournament Tuesday night. They played
two games. The first game was against Good Shepherd. With the consistent serving demonstrated by all the
girls, they came through with a win.
The second game was against St. John’s / St. Paul’s Lutheran. The SJSP girls were a much improved
team – playing a level above what our girls saw when they played them during the season. Thanks to Shannon
and Squid’s perfect serving, Baker, Cory, Rickert and Bird had some unbelievable hits! They won decisively in
three games.
The girls “A” team plays Thursday night (tonight) at 6:15 P.M. at Christ the Lord in Brookfield.
They’ll be taking on the girls from CTL for first place in the LAA Midwest League. Come watch our girls play
some powerful, fast-paced volleyball!
