Goulburn Hockey Incorporated – Business
Plan – 2010 -2013
Foreword
Goulburn Hockey Incorporated (GHI) is the managing body of the Worker Arena
Hockey Centre in Finlay Road, Goulburn. The centre is collocated with a rugby
league field and an indoor sports centre.
GHI is one of over 50 hockey organisations in New South Wales and for a medium
size regional centre has achieved significant acclaim in producing successful
teams and athletes at the state and national/international levels.
The primary function of Inc is to deliver the physical infrastructure for modern
hockey competitions for our stake holders through the management of the centre
under a lease agreement from the Goulburn Workers Club Incorporated.
These stakeholders comprise:
 The Hockey Community of Goulburn and District
 Goulburn Men’s Hockey Association
 Goulburn Women’s and Girls Hockey Association
 Goulburn Workers Club Inc.
 Hockey Australia
 Hockey NSW
 Hockey ACT
 Goulburn Mulwarree Council
 Sponsors and funding agencies
 Affiliated clubs

 Governance of the centre
 Implementation of best practice processes by the sport
 Management of the resources of the organisation
 Provision of fields and facilities for use by the sport
 Delivery of participation and education opportunities within the
sport
 Fostering excellence and success within the sport
‘Securing Hockey’s Turf in the Southern Region’ is the business plan adopted by
the Goulburn Hockey Inc to define its future direction as it seeks to advance the
sport of hockey. The objectives identified challenge the organisation to obtain
higher levels of success, both on and off the field, and therefore provide a
sustainable long-term future for Goulburn hockey.
Hockey in Goulburn is well positioned to undertake the challenges presented by
the identified objectives. Success will see the Goulburn Hockey Inc. ‘secure its
turf’, both literally and metaphorically. Literally, the sport will be better positioned

to maintain existing hockey fields and facilities; develop additional artificial
hockey fields and provide improved financial viability for the ongoing costs
associated with maintaining these physical resources. Metaphorically, in an ever
changing recreation and leisure market, the sport will increase its share within
this market, thereby achieving increased participation by the public and
investment from various stakeholders and funding sources. This requires the
provision of quality infrastructure and services that inspire individuals and
organisations to want to be associated with the organisation.
The identified objectives within this business plan are presented under four key
business areas:
