Deviation from these values can result in damage to the controller. The controller enclosure is not sealed and under no circumstances should be immersed in water or installed exposed to weather. There are no user serviceable parts inside the enclosure, and opening the enclosure will void warranty and risk electrical shock. For in-warranty service or replacement contact [email protected]. Quick look The Control Cube RH is a compact modular digital humidity controller that can be used to control relative humidity within cooling enclosures like refrigerators, freezers, or wine coolers. It is designed to be used along with the Cave Cube humidifier as a complete humidity control package. It can also be used independently as a high-precision humidity monitor What Ships Control Cube RH module 12vdc 2A wall-adapter power supply 9 ft. long flat sensor cable Replaceable sensor head Door entry seal strip Instruction manual Wall “quick mount” bracket with screws (optional) Installation Note: A video installation tutorial is available at www.perfect-cheese.com. 1. Remove all parts from packaging; check that you have all components listed above. 2. Determine best location for controller. 3. If you’re wall mounting the CCRH remove the optional mounting bracket and screws. Locate bracket and mark and drill pilot holes. Attach the bracket wall using the screws (with anchors if you’re attaching to drywall or thin paneling). 2|Page CONTROL CUBE RH” HUMIDITY CONTROLLER MANUAL 4. Once the bracket is attached you can mount the Cube and plug in to a wall socket. 5. The CCRH ships with an “entry seal strip” that doesn’t require an entry hole for the flat cable. To install (a) wrap the flat cable around the enclosure front edge where you want it placed and secure with tape on inside and outside; (b) remove the release paper from the back of the strip; (c) place strip vertically on inside door edge over the flat cable and press to seal. Programming the WH8040 Humidity Controller Note: A video programming tutorial can be seen at www.perfect-cheese.com. Front Panel LED Status Description: 1. WORKING light: Remains ON when humidity is below setpoint; flashes during programming. 2. SET light: Remains ON when Setpoint is displayed; OFF when measured temperature is displayed. Key Functions: 1. To change Setpoint: Press SET key once to display %RH setpoint, then use the ▲ or ▼ keys to increase or decrease value. Once desired setpoint is reached press SET key again. 2. Turning controller ON and OFF: Pressing the RST (Reset) key and holding for 3 seconds will turn the controller OFF. Pressing the RST key again will turn the controller back ON. System Settings 1. To change system settings: Press and hold SET key for three seconds to display system settings, then use the ▲ or ▼ keys to scroll through settings. To change a displayed setting, press SET key once and use the ▲ or ▼ keys adjust to desired value. To exit and save settings press RST key. Note: Controller will exit and save settings automatically after 5 seconds. 3|Page CONTROL CUBE RH” HUMIDITY CONTROLLER MANUAL 2. Symbol Details: H or C: Mode (H= Humidification C= De-humidification) D: Hysteresis (or temperature offset) LS: The minimum set limit HS The maximum set limit CA Temperature calibration PT Delay time Minutes 2.1. (H) or (C) Control Mode: Function: The Control Mode sets the controller to either humidification (i.e. power activated when humidity is below setpoint) or de-humidification (power is activated when above setpoint). To change the Control Mode: Press and hold the SET key for 3 seconds, to display the mode (it will be either (H) or (C)). When ready exit the settings menu by pressing RST or waiting 5 sec. Operation: (C) De-humidification Mode: When the measured humidity is higher than or equal to the set value + (D) hysteresis, power will be supplied to the appliance. When the measured humidity is below the set value, power will be turned off. Example: Mode is (C) De-humidification, Setpoint is 50 %RH and (D) hysteresis is set to 2%. When humidity increases to 52 deg. power will be turned ON; below 50 it will turn OFF. (H) Humidification mode: When the measured humidity is lower than or equal to the set value, power will be OFF. When the measured humidity drops below the set value – (D) hysteresis, power will be supplied to the appliance Example: Mode is (H) Humidification, Setpoint is 50 %RH and (D) hysteresis is set to 2%. When humidity decreases to 48 deg. power will be turned ON; above 50% it will turn OFF. 4|Page CONTROL CUBE RH” HUMIDITY CONTROLLER MANUAL 2.2 (D) Hysteresis function: Function: Hysteresis is a “offset” or %RH differential that is either added to or subtracted from the setpoint depending on the control mode. Default setting is 1.0%. To change hysteresis: Press and hold the SET key for 3 seconds, then the▲ once to display the hysteresis (D). Press SET key to display hysteresis and use the ▲ or ▼ keys adjust to desired value. When ready exit the settings menu by pressing RST or waiting 5 sec. Operation: (See Control Mode above) 2.3 (HS) and (LS) Upper and Lower Limit Settings Function: Establishes the “range” of humidity measurement and control. Default setting: Full range of controller (0% to 99%) To change the Limit Settings: Press and hold the SET key for 3 seconds, then the▲ five times to display the Lower Set Limit (LS). Pressing▲ again will display the High Set Limit (HS). When ready exit the settings menu by pressing RST or waiting 5 sec. Note: The setpoint needs to be set within the new range before the limit settings are changed. Operation: Use the (HS) and (LS) settings to reduce the range of humidity control. Example: (LS) is set to 20% and (HS) is set to 80% deg. The setpoint cannot exceed this range, and the controller will be disabled when range is exceeded. 2.4 (CA) Calibration Function: Adds (or subtracts) an “offset” in the measured vs. displayed %RH. Note: This is not calibration in the true sense, but simply an artificial adjustment to the displayed %RH above or below the measured %RH. For most applications this setting should be zero. Default setting: 0 deg. 5|Page CONTROL CUBE RH” HUMIDITY CONTROLLER MANUAL To change the Calibration offset: Press and hold the SET key for 3 seconds, then the▲ three times to display the calibration setting (CA). When ready exit the settings menu by pressing RST or waiting 5 sec. Operation: If the CA value is positive it will be added to the measured probe humidity. If the CA value is negative it will be subtracted. Example: Calibration offset (CA) is set to – (minus) 2 deg. and the probe humidity is 50%. Displayed value will be 48%. 2.5 (PT) Delay Protection Function: Adds an “on” delay (in minutes) before power is applied to the appliance. Default setting: 0 min. To change the Delay Protection: Press and hold the SET key for 3 seconds, then the▲ four times to display the delay protection setting (PT). When ready exit the settings menu by pressing RST or waiting 5 sec. 3. Fault messages --- ; Sensor probe failure or not connected to controller LLL - Humidity below 1% HHH – Humidity above 99% 4. Typical settings for controlling humidity in a cooling enclosure: (SET) = 55%; control mode H (Humidification); D = 2%; LS and HS (default); CA = 0; PT = 0 Limited Warranty The Control Cube T controller module (box) is warrantied for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Warranty covers defects in workmanship and failure to function properly from causes not attributable to damage, misuse or improper operation. Perfect Cheese will either replace or repair an underwarranty component at its discretion. Components that fail after expiration of warranty can be repaired by Perfect Cheese at a reasonable charge. There are no user serviceable parts inside the module’s main enclosure and any attempt to open will void any warrantee. 6|Page
