rrival at Catania/Comiso airport; bus transfers at 12:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.;
accommodation at “MEDITERRANEO HOTEL”.
At 7:30 P.M. dinner at the Hotel and welcome speech of the Ragusa Rotary Club
President about the presentation of the week’s activities and a club member, Mr.
Gaetano Cosentini will make a brief description of our Baroque area “Val di Noto”
28 May Sunday
Breakfast at the Hotel. At 9:00 A.M. visit of the town of Modica known not only for
its beautiful buildings and churches, but also for its delicious chocolate (which you
will be able to buy in local shops). Besides the Cathedral of San Giorgio we will visit
other churches such as San.Pietro, S.M.of Betlemme, San Domenico and the Church
of San Nicolò.
Lunch at theModica
In the afternoon visit of the town of Scicli, where you will see Piazza Italia, la
Matrice, the Church of San Bartolomeo, Palazzo Beneventano, Via Mormino Penna ,
the Church of the Carmine.
Return to Ragusa around 6:00 P.M. Dinner at 8:00 P.M.at the restaurant at the
Ragusa
30 May Tuesday
Breakfast at the Hotel. Departure at 9:00 A.M to visit the famous Roman “Villa del
Casale” in Piazza Armerina; lunch in Piazza Armerina
Return to Ragusa around 5.00 P.M.
20,00 P.M. Dinner at the restaurant hotel.
31 May Wednesday
Breakfast at the Hotel. At 9:00 A.M departure for Syracuse to visit Ortigia
island, the Aretusa fountain, the Cathedral, etc. Lunch in the old town at the
”la volpe e l’uva” After lunch visit of the “Greek Theatre”, the “Latomie”,
the “Dionysus’s Ear”. At 7:00 P.M you will see the Greek tragedy ‘Le Fenice’
by Euripide which ends around 8:30 P.M.
Dinner in Syracuse; accommodation at Hotel of the Siracusa
1 JuneThursday
Breakfast at the Hotel. Departure at 9:00 A.M to visit the historical centre of
Noto with its wonderful Cathedral, the Town Hall, the town Theatre, the
Churches of San Carlo, San Francesco, Santa Chiara, San Domenico and the
façade of the eighteenth century Palazzo Landolina. Lunch in the town centre.
Return to Ragusa around 5.00 P.M. Dinner at 8:00 P.M. at the Ragusa Ibla
29 May Monday
2 June Friday
Breakfast at the Hotel. Departure at 9:00 A.M. to visit Ragusa Ibla where you will
can walk along an ancient stairway. You will visit the Church of Idria of the Malta
Knights, the Church of the Purgatory, the façade of Palazzo Cosentini with wonderful
gargoyles of its balconies, the façade of Palazzo Sortino Trono; then after going
through a narrow winding street, lined by ancient buildings such as Palazzo La Rocca
with its beautiful Baroque balconies, you will reach the square of the Cathedral of San
Giorgio and you will visit .
Buffet with wine tasting at the wine shop “L’isola nell’isola ”. Lunch at the Ragusa
Ibla
At 5:00 P.M. visit of the centre of Ragusa Superiore and of the Prefecture where you
will be the guests of Her Excellency the Prefect Carmela Librizzi and you will admire
the frescoes by Master Cambellotti.
At 8:00 P.M: organ music in the Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista, performed by
our club member Marco D’Avola.
At 9:00 P.M. Dinner at the restaurant in the town centre.
Breakfast at the Hotel. At 9:00 A. M. Breakfast at Hôtel and visit Donnafugata
Castle then continue to Marina di Ragusa lunch in the restaurant .
Return to Ragusa in the early afternoon.
At 7:30 P.M. departure for the Gala Dinner present our clubs, the district
Governor Nunzio Scibilia, the Past-Governors Francesco Arezzo (members of
our club) Board - Director Europe sud occidental 2018 - 19
Gala dinner and our Rotary President’s final speech.
3 June Saturday
Breakfast at the Hotel.
Transfer to Catania/Comiso airport.
