Furskins, raw (including heads, tails, paws, etc)

Furskins, raw (including heads, tails, paws, etc), other than those of 211 212
After a decline of 20.7 percent in 2009, the value (in current prices) of exports of raw furskins, including heads, tails, paws, etc (SITC group 212)
recovered in 2010 and increased even further in 2011 by 22.9 percent to reach 4.7 bln US$ (see tables 1 and 2). Imports showed a similar development
with an increase of 27.4 percent to amount to 3.2 bln US$ in 2011 (see tables 1 and 3). Graph 1 shows that the increase in exports for 2011 in this
product group was below the increase in world exports of crude materials (excluding fuels), oils, fats (SITC sections 2+4) of 28.0 percent but higher
than the increase in total world exports of 18.6 percent. Exports of raw furskins, including heads, tails, paws, etc (SITC group 212) accounted for
0.5 percent of world exports of SITC sections 2+4 and less than 0.1 percent of total world exports in 2011 (see table 1).
Denmark, the top exporting country in 2011, increased by 22.9 percent and accounted for 34.2 percent of world exports (see table 2). Other major
exporting countries or areas were Finland and China, Hong Kong SAR, respectively with 16.4 and 15.6 percent of world exports. China, Hong Kong
SAR was the top destination with 35.2 percent of world imports (see table 3). By MDG regions (see graph 2), Developed Europe was the origin of
a majority of exports of raw furskins (SITC group 212). It recorded exports of 3.0 bln US$ and imports of 1.1 bln US$ resulting in a trade surplus of
1.9 bln US$. Eastern Asia recorded a trade deficit of 1.0 bln US$.
