Credit Balances, Refunds, and your SNHU OneCard What is a Credit Balance Refund? A credit balance occurs when a payment made to your account is more than the amount that you owe the university. Many times, this is due to receiving an additional federal or alternative loan not needed to cover direct educational expenses, such as tuition. A credit balance might also occur from financial aid disbursements, deposits, or any other situation where the amount you paid the university is greater than the amount owed. Credit Balance Authorization Form The Credit Balance Authorization Form allows SNHU o release a credit balance caused by financial aid to you. This form is online and will only need to be completed once. You can access this form online through One Stop’s mySNHU Credit Balance Refund site. What is HigherOne? Higher One is a company that partners with colleges and universities to process refunds for students. SNHU works with Higher One to quickly process money that is due back to you in the most timely and efficient manner possible. What is the SNHU OneCard? Is it a credit card? Upon initial enrollment with SNHU, HigherOne provides a SNHU OneCard to all students. Your SNHU OneCard is debit card that provides access to your HigherOne account. This is not a credit card but simply a way for you to activate your HigherOne account and receive any credit balance refunds. Do I need to activate my SNHU OneCard? Although you might not expect to receive a credit balance refund, your HigherOne account must be activated. Any money owed to you is sent to your HigherOne account. Is HigherOne the only option for receiving refunds? Are there other options? Refunds are only processed through HigherOne. HigherOne offers different options for you to receive your refund (including an ACH transfer to an existing bank account). Upon receipt of your SNHU OneCard, visit www.snhuonecard.com to activate your HigherOne account and review the different refund options. Can I have my refund sent to an existing bank account? Yes! You can have credit balance refunds transferred to an existing bank account. You can set this option up with HigherOne online after you activate your HigherOne Account. I think I am receiving too much in student loans; can I reduce or decline the total amount I receive? If you wish to decline or reduce any part of the student loans offered, submit a signed statement to One Stop indicating the amount you wish to decline or reduce.
