JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: FRANCHISE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER REPORTING TO: General Manager – UK & Ireland HOURS OF WORK: 35 hours per week (flexibility of working outside these hours is required to meet the needs of post) 1. 2. PURPOSE OF THE JOB 1.1 To be responsible for maximising franchise (Instructor) expansion opportunities; recruiting quality franchisees to support the continued growth and success of Kumon UK and Ireland. 1.2 Managing and developing a team of Franchise Recruitment Managers to ensure annual growth targets are met and exceeded. LINE MANAGEMENT & SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES 2.1 2.2 3. 3 x Franchise Recruitment Managers 1 x Team Administrator DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 3.1 To develop and implement a franchisee expansion strategy across the UK and Ireland, ensuring an innovative and consistent approach to franchise recruitment, including advertising; responding to enquiries; processing applications; organising and delivering information sessions; interviewing and assessing applicants. 3.2 Responsible for managing the UK and Ireland franchise expansion list, including defining appropriate market parameters, either managing this process internally or via a third party. 3.3 Responsible for setting national targets in relation to franchisee expansion within the UK and Ireland and also targets for franchise centre takeover. 3.4 Managing a team of Franchise Recruitment Managers, sharing best practice and ensuring that as a team and individuals targets are exceeded. 3.5 Responsible for working with the Brand and communications team on the national Franchise Recruitment strategy. 3.6 Responsible for measuring the effectiveness of the advertising strategy and reviewing where appropriate, to ensure efficient return on investment. 3.7 Responsible for effectively marketing the Kumon franchise business proposition to potential new franchisees 3.8 Responsible for reviewing and improving key franchisee recruitment processes, such as information sessions, the interview process and new Instructor (franchisee) support. 3.9 To work closely with the Regional Managers and the Franchise Recruitment Managers to identify any issues and concerns regarding Instructor recruitment and implement change as and when required and/or directed. 3.10 To assist with ad hoc project work as and when required, i.e. assisting with the organisation of the national Instructor (franchisee) conference. 3.11 To build and maintain thorough product knowledge through completion of Kumon maths and English worksheets. 3.12 To attend supervision, training and meetings as and when required. There may be a necessity for these to be outside of normal working times at weekends for which TOIL would be awarded. 3.13 To work with, abide by and positively promote all Kumon UK’s policies and/or procedures, including but not limited to, health and safety matters, operational and HR related policies and procedures. 3.14 To carry out all reasonable duties requested by your line manager or any other senior management member. Revised October 2011 PERSON SPECIFICATION Franchise Development Manager ATTRIBUTE EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL Proven experience in recruitment and/or business /project management DESIRABLE Experience of working in a target driven environment and exceeding set targets. Experience of statistical analysis, using demographic data to identify key target markets. Experience of managing and motivating a team. Experience of managing work in alignment with business strategies. Ability to work autonomously with a framework of responsibility. Experience of working to deadlines and managing varied tasks within expected workload. Experience of budget management. EDUCATION PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES A degree or equivalent.
