ENGLAND HOCKEY BOARD
England Hockey Board (EHB) is the National Governing Body for the sport of Hockey. EHB has income and
expenditure of circa £9m p.a. It is responsible for the management and development of the sport from grass
roots to elite activities.
EHB has a membership comprising clubs (900+), counties (45) and regions (6 including the Combined Services)
which affiliate to it. About 100,000 individuals over the age of 16 play regularly in the club system with an
estimated 20,000 playing at university/college. Over 15,000 coaches, umpires and officials are supported and
developed by the EHB.
EHB employs 65 staff. EHB also use over 200 consultants in performance / coach / official / leadership
education and development, all of which fall with the development team remit.
EHB’s vision is to become a ‘Nation where Hockey matters’ through “providing inspirational leadership for all
to fulfil their potential”. The current focus for the organisation is delivery of its 5 objectives within the 2013 2017 strategic plan:





Growth in participation - Increase the number of people participating in hockey to ensure a vibrant
and secure future for the sport
International success - Continue to raise the performance bar of athlete and coach development to
maintain world level standards and create positive role models for the sport
Increased visibility - Deliver high profile quality domestic and international events that attract
increased spectator numbers, TV coverage, and sponsorship
Enhanced infrastructure - Enhance the playing experience by improving facilities, coaching,
officiating and the support to volunteers, clubs and all our stakeholders
A strong and respected NGB - Continue to maintain high governance standards and diversify
sources of income to reduce reliance on grants

ROLE SUMMARY
To assist the Head of Events, Competitions Manager and Events Manager to deliver the England Hockey
competitions and events programme, playing a leading role in competitions activity.
REPORTS
The Competitions and Events Administrator will report to the Competitions Manager.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES












Assist with the administration of England Hockey competitions to ensure smooth running of the
event/competition and to deliver a high quality of customer experience
Lead the delivery of designated C3 events (see attached schedule) to ensure high quality experience for
all stakeholders
Be the first point of contact for local organisers and teams competing in designated C3 competitions
Dissemination of competition information to participating teams and officials
Assisting participating clubs, schools and teams with queries related to competitions
Checking and consolidating competition information, including match sheets and match programmes
Providing and updating competition information for the website
Inputting relevant competition information into England Hockey newsletters
Liaison with travel and accommodation agents in respect to events
Organise competition meetings and take and circulate committee notes
General administration tasks and projects as appropriate
Any other reasonable management requests

Qualifications and Experience
 Demonstrates capability in terms of numeracy and literacy to GSCE level or equivalent
 Experience of working with CRM Systems
 Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better
 Excellent administration experience, including planning and prioritising own time effectively
 An understanding of and an interest in team sports and the competitions landscape
