SciSoc First Year Camp 2015 Registration Basic Information

Dear First Year Student,
Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2015 SciSoc First Year Camp! This
year our camp will be held at Cataract Scout Park, in Appin, from Friday the 13th to
Sunday the 15th of March.
First Year Camp is a fantastic social opportunity for you to make new friends with your
classmates, or strengthen the friendship with people you have already met in the first few
weeks of semester. It also allows you to gain a deeper understanding of life at university,
as you will be guided at all times by a senior student as your group leader and mentor.
We have arranged many exciting activities that not only ensure that you have a fun
weekend away from home, but also help you develop essential teamwork skills.

Please take the time to fill in the required details carefully and return the forms, along
with cash payment. This can be done at our stall during University of Sydney O-Week,
25-27th of February, 2014. Places will not be reserved before then and spots for camp
will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. We do our best to avoid
disappointment but due to the continued popularity of our First Year Camp places are
limited and in high demand. Please come early (from 9 a.m.) on the first day for your best
chance of securing a spot.
Prices are $100 for Access Card holders and $110 for non-Access Card holders. An
Access card entails membership of the University of Sydney Union and has a range of
benefits that can be explored further at http://www.usu.edu.au/Access-Card/SayHello.aspx. A valid Access card will be needed to be presented to us to be eligible for the
reduced price.
The price covers everything that is needed for camp including food, accommodation,
transport to and from the campsite, activities and alcohol. There will be no need for
money during camp and the Society takes no responsibility for lost or stolen money or
valuables. Do not bring your own alcohol; it will be in ample supply.

6) Transport Arrangements
Transport costs are included in the overall prices. We will meet on Friday afternoon at 5
p.m. outside Fisher Library. We have arranged transport to take students to and from the
campsite. If you wish to make your own way to and from the campsite, please inform us
upon payment so that we can provide you with a map and directions.
If you have classes on Friday, please be aware that we will leave promptly at 5:15 p.m.
Please call Chris or Ben (Phone numbers will be given after payment) on the day and
inform them if you are liable to run late however we will not be able to wait for you if
you are significantly delayed.
7) What to Bring / List of Activities
A detailed list of what personal items to bring to the camp and a timetable of all our
activities during the camp will be provided upon receiving this form and full payment for
the camp.
8) Payment
Payment is to be made in cash at our O-Week stall on the 25th to the 27th of February.
Payments will be fully receipted. A refund is not available, unless there are exceptional
circumstances, in which case a refund can be negotiated. Please address your reasons for
requesting a refund in the form of a written letter to Chris Waugh at
[email protected].
9) Acknowledgement
Please read the following and sign to complete this registration. These rules are to ensure
our camp provides the best possible experience for all attendants:
1. We cannot provide you with alcohol if you are under the legal age of 18.
2. We will stop serving you alcohol if you appear to be intoxicated.
3. Smoking is not allowed in the cabins for the safety and comfort of others. If you have
to smoke, please do so outdoors away from doors and commonly used areas.
4. Please follow the instructions given by your group leader at all times.
5. If you do not feel well, please inform us immediately.
6. Do not leave the campsite without informing us first. If you need to be picked up at a
time other than the scheduled departure, please inform Chris Waugh in writing before
camp.
7. If you fail to comply with our rules, we reserve the right to ask you to leave (but will
help you arrange transport off the camp site).
8. To participate in certain activities you must sign the Cataract Scout Park Liability
Release form. (Which will be given to you after payment is received)
9. By signing this form, you acknowledge that you have read these rules and will follow
them during your stay.
