General Class Information • Classes start promptly so please be on time. You might want to arrive early the fist few classes until you set up a routine. • We have 2 locker rooms (Boys & Girls) with showers and changing facilities. We also have a "Family changing room". You may not change your children in either viewing room. • If your child is 6 or older they may NOT change in the opposite sex locker room. • Food is NOT permitted in any of the changing areas!! Food is allowed in the viewing rooms only. • Get bathroom trips out of the way before class starts so that your child does not have to miss any class time. • If your child needs to use the bathroom during class they will be using the on-‐deck facilities. Your shoes MUST be off when you enter the pool deck to assist your child. • There are no shoes allowed on deck. We are very strict about this rule. Please do not come on the deck with any shoes that you wore outside. Street shoes contain more germs and dirt than you can imagine. All of your children and our staff are walking barefoot on this pool deck and we cannot allow it to become a health hazard. • You can walk your child on deck at the beginning of class or the lifeguard can walk them in. If you are going to come on the pool deck please take your shoes off. • You can view your child's class from either of our two viewing rooms. Please be available to take your child to the bathroom if needed. This is not a "drop off" program. If you need to leave the facility for any reason you must make arrangements with the office in advance. • Please do not leave children unattended in the facility. • Swimmers will be dismissed from the pool deck by our staff. We ask that you please form a line against the wall so that children can easily get to their parents or caregivers. If everyone crowds around the exit door it creates a traffic jam. • The back viewing room is closed Mon through Fri from 11:30 to 12:30, and on Sat and Sun from 12:00 to 1:00 for staff lunch hour. Feel free to use the front viewing room if you arrive to class early. • All female swimmers and boys with long hair must bring and wear a swim cap. You cannot rely on borrowing hats or goggles every week because we do not have enough. You are required to bring your own. • Goggles are allowed but not required. If your child is used to wearing goggles they should bring them to class, but we will make them take them off at some point to make sure their eyes are adjusted to the water. We also sell children's goggles at the pool. • Your child's teacher will rotate. We try to keep the rotation to 4 teachers max over the course of a session (unless instructors are absent). All of our teachers are trained to instruct the same way and have gone through the same training process. We feel that the students get a better, more well rounded experience if they can swim with more than one teacher. It improves their confidence and independence dramatically.
