About the Redcliffe Dolphins
The Redcliffe District Rugby League Football Club Incorporated is the full and proper
name of our football club.
Our charter is to foster the development of Rugby League to the highest possible level and
to play a leading role in the development of junior sport in the Redcliffe region.
Though you may know us as the Redcliffe Dolphins – there is much more to that name.
We are an individual business that runs independently from the other businesses that form
the Redcliffe Dolphins.
The other businesses you may also call the Redcliffe Dolphins:
 Redcliffe Leagues Club (dining, entertainment and community gaming)
 Dolphins Health Precinct (health, fitness and swimming)
 Dolphins Central (shopping centre)
Together, each of these businesses come under the corporate banner of the Dolphins
Group. Staff from each of the businesses interact and work with each other together with
common business values and objectives.


Double check you have used your child’s details and the parent guardian details in the

accept the responsibility of completing this process, nor do they have any say in the approval process.

TEAM ALLOCATIONS
Club Staff alone are responsible for the allocation and grading of players into teams. When registering, players
are registering to be one of the Redcliffe Dolphins – not a particular team member.
Existing Players: team selection has been applied to the online system which means there is an opportunity
for you to indicate your team preference.
To secure a place in your preferred team it is important that you complete the registration process including
full payment. In 2016 we expect the approximately nine fully registered children should receive their first
preference. However, changes to team may be necessary and parents who could not keep their first
preference will be contacted in January to finalize another preference.
If the team you are looking for is not shown when you go to register this means that the team is already full
and has been removed as an option. We therefore encourage you to register earlier rather than later to
maximize your chances for your first preference.
New players do not have the opportunity to request team placement. Club registrars complete all allocations
for new players in the under 6-under 10 age group.
You will receive confirmation on your child’s team via your Coach. This will occur after teams are finalized in
February (shortly after Sign On Day). Please make sure your contact details including mobile phone
numbers are correct as they will confirm your first training session with you.
PLAYER MOVEMENT BETWEEN TEAMS

DECISIONS MADE BY CLUB STAFF IN
THESE CIRCUMSTANCES ARE FINAL
Under 6 – Under 10
These age groups are not graded. Teams are finalized early in the year. Children are placed appropriately to
allow regular enjoyment, instruction and participation. If you have any questions relating to team allocations
please refer all queries to Steve Crawford – 3203 7333.
GOOD SPORTS
The Redcliffe Dolphins have commenced the accreditation process
to become a Good Sports Club joining the Healthy Eating and Food
For Sports Programs.
Stay tuned for some changes at the Redcliffe Dolphins as we adopt
the policies of these programs across the Club and watch our players
and members benefit.
Sporting clubs of all size and description benefit from a greater focus on young people and families and less focus on
drinking alcohol at high-risk levels.
It shows our club promotes a responsible attitude towards alcohol and that it aims to provide a safe environment for
players, members, families and supporters. It means that our players and members can celebrate wins, commiserate
losses and share a drink with each other safely and responsibly.
Good Sports is one of the most well-established, well-researched prevention programs operating at a national level.
From its beginnings in Victoria in 2000, the Good Sports program has grown to become a trusted and respected
national program involving over 5,000 community sporting clubs across every state and territory and reaching over
1.5 million Australians.
6
GRADED AGE GROUPS
Under 11 – Under 18
Players who register to play at this Club do so knowing that they may not be able to play with their mates, but
rather will be placed into a team reflective of their abilities. Coaches must not make any representation to any
player that they will be in a particular team (should they register with the Club). Coaches do not make the final
decision on the makeup of a team, the grading Committee does.
These age groups play in Premiership competitions and are graded - taking into account displayed
performance, attitude, behaviour, experience and physical abilities. If you have any questions relating to team
allocations please refer all queries to Steve Crawford – 3203 7333.
GRADING POLICY
The information below is an abridged version of the Club’s Grading and Coaching Policy (the full policy can be
found on the Club website). Its purpose is to provide a brief understanding to players, coaches, members and
parents of the expectations and processes the Club plans to adopt in order to distribute players where multiple
teams are registered in competitive grades. The basic purpose for this policy is to ensure that the best players
play in the strongest available team.
APPLICATION: This policy will apply to all grades except for the following:
 Under 6s – Under 9s inclusive
 Under 10s – special grading will apply to Under 10s at the end of the season in preparation for selection in
a tournament played at the end of the season
GRADING PROCESS: A Grading Committee for relevant grades/years will be formed in accordance with the
Grading Policy, appointed by the Football Development Manager. Development Staff will sit across all Grading
decisions, however Grading Committee members will be responsible for Grading as follows:
 Under 11 through to Under 14
 Development Staff will review other grades as required
It may not be necessary for competitive teams to be graded, depending on player registrations and depending
on number of teams to be registered.
1. Where possible, coaches from previous years, rate known players (in preparation for the following year)
into Yes, No and Maybe – in relation to their potential to play in the highest possible grade.
2. Where possible one provisional (or head coach), appointed by the Football Development Manager, will
oversee initial training for that grade, i.e. Under 14s will occur together, with assistance available from the
nominated coach and assistant coaches of the second or third team
3. During training and trial matches, Grading Committee members, the Football Development Staff and
nominated coaches will discuss the attributes/skills of all players. Notes need to be taken for further
discussion.
4. During trial matches, all players must have an equal amount of time on the field to demonstrate their
skills. Coaches must develop rosters to ensure this happens.
5. At completion of the Grading period, the provisional coach and other coaches will prepare a list to
nominate their top team and subsequent teams. The Grading Committee (made up of two independent
members plus the Football Development Staff) will either endorse or amend the team, as required. The
Grading Committee will then forward that team for endorsement to the Football Development Manager
for endorsement.

The RealWay Junior Dolphins uniform for 2016 is pictured above. Our uniform is compulsory, and it is
necessary for all parents to have their children dressed in the correct full uniform, meaning all players required
to wear the above playing shorts and socks (jersey provided by the Club).
The Redcliffe Dolphins Official playing uniform is available from Leading Edge Sports (Clontarf). The store has
a full range of protective garments, equipment and playing boots you may wish to purchase. Safety items
including mouth guards are strongly recommended but they are not compulsory.
Leading Edge Sports supply all Dolphins with a 10% discount card for personal use. This card can only be
used in store on items not already reduced.
QRL safety codes have a limit of a soft rubber-soled sports shoe (joggers) as a minimum requirement for the
Under 6-Under 12 aged players. Players in Under 13 aged teams and older must have a minimum moulded
sole football boot aka footy boots.
Each fully registered player will receive a polo shirt from their Team Manager at the beginning of the season.
This polo short is to be worn to and from all games. It is not to be used for training.
MOUTH GUARDS
The Redcliffe Dolphins encourage the use of mouth guards by all our players. Redcliffe Smiles dentist is
located at Dolphins Central Shopping Centre.
It is not compulsory for any child or adult to wear a mouth guard. Therefore the Redcliffe Dolphins can and
only will continue to encourage the wearing of this item. Our club is not responsible for a decision that lies
solely with the parent or caregiver of our players. If you'd like your child to wear a mouth guard, that is a
conversation to have with your family.

PRESENTATION DAY
Presentation Day for all teams will take place on Saturday 22nd October, 2016. Each child under 6-under 12
will receive a trophy, year book and photos.
Children aged 13 and older will receive a year book and photos, but trophies are awarded on performance for
these age groups.
Please schedule your day to attend ALL TEAMS receiving trophies, as it is important for all teams of the club
to enjoy the crowd support, applause and cheers whether they be the first team or the last team to receive
recognition.
TEAM PHOTOS
Photography is scheduled over two nights in July. Your team manager will confirm your team’s date and time
with you. Players are required to be in full playing uniform.
One team photo and one individual photo is ordered on behalf of each player from your registration fees. If a
child is not present at their team’s photo night, a team photo only will be ordered for them. Photos are given
out on presentation days.
FAMILIES WISHING TO PURCHASE ANY EXTRA COPIES OF TEAM PHOTOS OR PORTRAITS MUST
DO SO DIRECTLY WITH OUR OFFICIAL CLUB PHOTOGRAPHER – IMAGETEC.
THE CLUB DOES NOT DO THIS ON BEHALF OF ANY FAMILY. CALL THE IMAGETEC TEAM ON 33416148.
Above: action photo by Imagetec
The team from Imagetec also take action photos at junior games held at the Dick ‘Tosser’ Turner
Complex. Parents are then able to order those photos from the company directly. Speak with the
photographers in person at game day to find out more.

The Redcliffe Dolphins Support the QLD Government’s
cross-football code initiative:
“Be Positive or Be Quiet”
If what you are saying isn’t positive, don’t bother saying it.
Referees, players, volunteers and officials of our game do not need to be abused,
mistreated or witness inappropriate language or behaviour.
If any person within our Dolphins community is guilty of such conduct the Code of
Behaviour – Breach Procedures will be enforced.

The complaint will be assessed and if further action is warranted a covering letter with team documentation
will be forwarded to the GBJRL and / or relevant department.
Please note: The GBJRL do not accept direct contact from individual parties i.e. parents, guardians or
supporters. If they receive a letter of complaint from an individual party they will return the letter and advise
that individual to contact our Club directly to address the matter.
WET WEATHER INFORMATION
The decision on field closure for training nights is made by 3pm
each weekday. A message is then posted on the Wet Weather
Notice page at our website & on Facebook/Twitter. Check there as
your first point of call. Coaches have the ability to cancel due to wet
weather independently from the club - they are required to contact
you regarding this directly.
11
TEAM VOLUNTEERING
Volunteers are a very important part of our Club. As the biggest junior rugby league club in Queensland, the
mighty Dolphins have almost 270 volunteers.
This club appreciates the support you give to your team, in particular at games. When playing, each of our
junior teams need to provide helpers: Time Keeper, Touch Judge, First Aid Officer, Leaguesafe Officer and
Duty Officials. These volunteers need to be organised BEFORE YOUR CHILD’S GAME CAN EVEN BEGIN.
Assist your child’s team by nominating a position you are happy to help out with regularly. This will assist your
coach and team manager and the assignment of weekly roles to parents.
FRIDAY NIGHT RAFFLES
Long standing volunteer Jamie McDonald, coordinates meat tray raffles held at the Redcliffe Leagues Club
almost every Friday night of the year. A roster is published each season allocating junior teams to supply
volunteers to assist Jamie with the selling of these tickets. Team Managers will ask for parents to nominate for
this task. The roster is published early in the season and can also be found on our website in the Downloads
section. Teams who do not attend rostered shifts for Friday Night Raffles will be debited $100.00 from
their Team Funds.
BLUE CARDS
As our club has so many active volunteers working closely with children, the Redcliffe Dolphins maintain that
all junior club volunteers who have direct contact with players apply for a Working With Children – Blue Card
(regardless if you have a child in the team or not, or if you are employed in a capacity that does not require
you to apply for one of these cards e.g. school teacher, police officer).
As volunteers, there is not a fee to apply for the card. The form is easy to complete and is normally processed
within three months.
NOTE: If you have previously been disqualified from having a Blue Card it is an offence to sign a Blue Card
Application Form and the Club requests you to notify Staff of your current circumstances if this is applicable to
you.
12
The support of sponsoring businesses like RealWay Property Consultants, the
Redcliffe Leagues Club and our uniform sponsors Telstra Store Kippa-Ring, Prestige
Painters Brisbane, Dolphins Health Precinct, Countrywide Embroidery and Tricolour
Concreting financially enable the Dolphins to provide development programs,
insurance fees, QRL nomination fees, game day jerseys, and the provision of staff to
coordinate game days.
However, on a daily basis individual junior teams at our Club rely on the assistance of
parents and supporters each and every week of the season. The Redcliffe Dolphins are
only so successful because of our volunteer base.
Parents are advised to be aware that their participation is not a request but a
necessity of junior sport in our community.
There are many roles you can assist with based on your abilities and fitness level.
Some may require formal certification or courses for volunteers to learn more from,
but the majority do not.
Jobs to fill include: Coaching, Leaguesafe, Team Managers, Touch Judges, timekeeping, fundraisers, First Aid Officers and jersey washers.
Have you been sitting on the sidelines watching other parents putting their hand up to
help each week and wondered how YOU could get involved too?
Junior Rugby League has a volunteer position to suit everybody, and we can suggest
several different ways that you could help our kids enjoy our game within a safe &
caring environment.
Volunteering Ideas For YOU:
- You can be a Team Manager responsible for organising weekly game paperwork and
player's social activities,
- Become an accredited Rugby League coach by completing a course online before
going to a group training session with the NRL development staff,
- Gain accreditation through the NRL as a Rugby League First Aid Officer,
- Officiating either as a Touch Judge for your team, or earning some extra cash as a
Club Referee will put you right in the middle of the action!
Other Volunteer roles at the Dolphins:
- Fund raisers to assist with Friday night raffles, particularly out of season. Friday
night raffles are held 50 weeks of the year,
- Coordinate Miss Redcliffe quest entrants each year,
- Be an official Host at game day corporate events greeting our guests and ensuring
they enjoy their visit,
- Apparel Stand attendant at Intrust Super Cup game days, and much more!
Call Steve or Kirsty today, or talk to them at Sign On about getting on board as a
volunteer with the Dolphins with either junior or senior game days. Phone 3203 7333.

INSURANCE INFORMATION
All junior clubs pay a compulsory Insurance Premium set by the QRL. The Club deems this
cover as negligible to the needs of a rugby league player, in particular for players in the
international games age groups.
YOU CAN CLAIM A PHYSIOTHERAPIST APPOINTMENT VIA RUGBY LEAGUE
INSURANCE FROM A RUGBY LEAGUE INJURY WITHOUT A DOCTOR/G.P. REFERAL
Government legislation does not allow General Insurers to cover any costs subject
to a Medicare rebate. This means that any medical bill you might receive that you will
receive a reimbursement from Medicare for, WILL NOT RECEIVE A FURTHER PAYMENT
FROM INSURANCE COVER FOR. You may also still have other out of pocket expenses
applicable due to the schedule fee gap.
Parents/Guardians must be aware of these important points:
1. If your child injures themself at training or during a game they need to tell their TEAM
MANAGER;
2. Injuries must be reported so that the club has a record for future reference on
insurance claims;
3. A General Practitioner (your doctor) must provide you with a referral to a
Physiotherapist if you intend to make a rugby league insurance claim based on an
injury sustained during training or games;
4. If you have not been referred to a health specialist for further treatment by your GP,
payments due to those specialists are not considered to be Insurance claimable and
therefore the cost will be 100% your responsibility to pay.;
5. Insurance claims must be completed within 30 days from the date of injury;
6. Redcliffe Dolphins staff assist with the final stages of insurance claims. Our staff must
have evidence of your child’s injury during a rugby league activity with the Redcliffe
Dolphins before they can sign your forms for you;
7. Once you have your claim form completed, call our office on 3203-7333 and speak
with Kirsty Fields about what you need to do before making an appointment with her
for forms to be finalized;
8. A photocopy of the claim is retained on file for Club records. Arthur J. Gallagher will
send an Acknowledgement of Claim with a claim number directly to the player/parent.
Any other further requirements will also be advised at this time;
9. Due to the privacy act, all enquiries regarding insurance must be made directly to
Arthur J. Gallagher Insurance on 3367 5006.
Visit this website for further information and to download a claim form: www.ajg.com.au/
REMEMBER: your child must tell their Team Manager if they have hurt themselves.
