MOPS INTERNATIONAL MISSION STATEMENT

Welcome to MOPS 2015-2016! We are so excited you have joined us in this journey while we learn what it looks like to
Fiercely Flourish! Here are a few things we thought you would like to know about Southwinds MOPS.
MOPS INTERNATIONAL MISSION STATEMENT
MOPS International exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her
potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ. MOPS is for every mother whose
youngest child is from birth-kindergarten.
MEETINGS
We meet two Thursdays/month from 9:00-11:00. You can begin to check in your children to their MOPETTES
room(s) at 8:45. We have occasional playdates and Moms night outs throughout the year. Detailed information
will be provided closer to the event, either during meetings, or on facebook.
MOPETTS
Infants from newborn-6 months of age are welcome at the meeting. After 6 months, children attend a MOPETTS
classroom during the meeting. We have wonderful MOPETTS staff that look forward to their time with your
children!
See additional sheet for specific policies regarding MOPETTS
PAYMENT
Payment is requested at registration, and due by the first meeting of the year.
If you are new to MOPS, we welcome you to come to a meeting before joining. We do ask that if you decide to join
MOPS, you pay by the next meeting.
We offer scholarships and/or payment plans for those moms who have a need. Please see your table leader, the
coordinators (Brittany Thompson or Jill Wegner) for more information
Make checks payable to Southwinds. Payment can be brought to a meeting, dropped off at the church office or
mailed to the church at:
Southwinds Church of Tracy, Attn: MOPS
13400 W. Middle Road
Tracy, California 95304
ATTENDANCE
Due to a limited number of spaces in our Moppets and MOPS rooms, we anticipate the use of a waiting list. Should
we have Moms on a waiting list, the following absentee policy is in effect:
Any member that misses three or more meetings may forfeit her spot in MOPS to someone on the waiting list. We
understand that things happen, and kids do get sick. Therefore, exceptions may be made in special cases if your
discussion group leader is notified in advance of your extended absenteeism or there are extenuating
circumstances.
Should you decide to leave MOPS and/or forfeit your space, a portion of your registration fee may be refunded to
you, based on how long you were with MOPS. The MOPS International portion of your registration ($25) is nonrefundable, per MOPS International.
PRIVACY POLICY/FACEBOOK
We have two facebook pages. The first is an open group page, where past, present, and potential Southwinds MOPS
members are able to keep in touch. Public events and notices will be posted here. We invite moms to post here
when they are looking to reach out to a larger community.
Beginning this year, we also have a private facebook group. Only current members of this year’s MOPS group will
be added. This is a place for moms to continue conversations that were started during the meetings, in a
confidential environment. Events intended only for registered moms will be posted here as well.
On each page, we ask that you are respectful and kind. We understand that we all have differing opinions and want
to encourage healthy conversations. We also ask that you do not post any “for sale” items, but “in search of” posts
are acceptable. If you have a small business you would like to advertise, please reach out to our publicity leader for
more information.
BREAKFAST SIGN-UP
At Southwinds MOPS we believe you should get to sit down and enjoy an occasional meal without cutting up
someone else’s first! That’s why we enjoy breakfast at every MOPS meeting. There is a table rotation for food, and
each table will be responsible for bringing food 2-3 times/semester. There are also a few meetings where
everyone brings food. Your table leader will alert you as to when you are expected to bring food and will have a
sign-up sheet as to what is needed.
MEALS FOR MOMS
When a MOPS mom has a baby we like to help out the best way we know how…by making the family a meal! The
table leader will contact the mom to determine if/when she wants meals and any preferences/food allergies etc.
The table leader will then set up a meal sign-up through “MealTrain.” If you sign up to make a mom dinner and an
unforeseeable circumstance arrives, please contact the mom and well as your table mom so alternative
arrangements can be made. Meals can also be set-up for special circumstances, such as a death in the family,
prolonged illness etc. Please contact your table leader if you are in need of a meal program.
