Claim Evidence Reasoning is a framework for
constructing scientific explanations.
•Claim – statement that answers the
question or problem; the main idea;
•Evidence – the facts that support the claim
•Reasoning – explanation of the logic behind
why the facts support the claim
Homework
Claim: Middle Schoolers who play video games get
lower grades in school.
Evidence:On average, middle schoolers who play vid
eo games play more than 2 hrs/day
Middle schoolers who play video games get less
than 8 hrs of sleep
Reasoning: Middle schoolers who play video games
get lower grades because they have less time for
homework and they do not get enough sleep and
both of those impact grades.
