INSERT SIM CARD •S lide the back cover down to open. • Insert the SIM card with the gold chip facing down and the slanted edge on the bottom as shown. 6 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 8 9/04/13 11:50 AM 2. INSERT THE BATTERY Ensure the gold tabs on the battery are aligned with the gold pins in the battery compartment. SWITCH ON YOUR TELSTRA easycall® 3 Press and hold the red power key for two seconds to switch the mobile phone on and off. 4. Slide the Keylock switch down to lock the keypad or up to unlock. If you get an incoming call you can press the Green key to answer or the Red key to reject the call even when the keys are locked. 9 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 11 9/04/13 11:50 AM CHARGING YOUR PHONE Your phone will sound an alert tone when the battery is low and display a low battery message on screen. To charge your phone insert the AC charger supplied carefully with the plug and socket aligned correctly as shown below. You can also use the desktop charger supplied in the box. 10 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 12 9/04/13 11:50 AM PERSONALISE YOUR RINGTONE, MESSAGE ALERT AND MORE •Press Menu Key, use the arrow keys to scroll through the menu and use the Green Call key to select Settings •Then select Audio profiles - Personalise Tone Setup. •Select which item you would like to personalise. •Choose from a range of tones and use Green Call key to select preferred tone. V Y e •P s C •T P •S i C 11 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 13 9/04/13 11:50 AM VOLUME CONTROL You can adjust the ringtone, keytone, earphone volume and in call volume. •Press Menu Key, use the arrow keys to scroll through the menu and use the Green Call Key to select Settings. •Then select Audio profiles Personalise - Volume. •Select an item then use arrow keys to increase or decrease volume. Press Green Call key when done. Handy Hint From the home screen you can switch the phone to silent mode by holding down the # key. A red speaker symbol will appear in the top of the screen. To switch silent off hold down the # key until Silent Mode Off message is displayed. 12 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 14 9/04/13 11:50 AM MAKING CALLS To make a voice call, enter the number on the keypad and press OK or the Green Call key to dial. Calling a number from Contacts •Select Menu and press Green Call Key to select Phone Book. •Select Quick Search, then use the arrow keys to scroll through contacts. You can also type in a name or letter to jump to a contact. Answering an incoming call •When you receive an incoming call press the Green Call Key to answer. • To reject or end a call press the Red End Call Key. 13 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 15 9/04/13 11:50 AM USING THE EASYCALL BUTTONS Use the EasyCall buttons as a shortcut to dial your favourite contacts. Follow the below steps to assign a contact. •Press Menu Key, use the arrow keys to scroll through the menu and use the Green Call Key to select Settings. • Scroll down and select EasyCall Setup. • Selct Option 1 EasyCall Buttons • Use the arrow keys to highlight position 1 or 2 and then select Assign • You can add an existing contact or enter a new one. Exit menu once complete. • Hold down on one of the EasyCall buttons to call your assigned contact. 14 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 16 9/04/13 11:50 AM MESSAGING Sending a text message •Press Menu Key, use arrow keys to scroll through menu and Use Green Call Key to select Messages. • Select Write message, then begin typing your message. • When finished typing, Press Green Call Key to select Options. • Press the Green Call Key to Save and Send your message, or select Send Only to not save a copy. • You can use the keypad to enter a number or Press Green Call Key to search through Phone Book. 15 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 17 9/04/13 11:50 AM •Use the arrow keys to scroll through contacts. You can also type in a name or letter to jump to a contact. Then press Green Call Key to select contact. •Press the Green Call Key to send message. 16 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 18 9/04/13 11:50 AM Viewing a received text message When you receive a text message an envelope icon will be displayed in the status bar at the top of your display. • To view messages press the Menu Key, then use arrow keys to scroll to Messages. Press the Green Call Key to select. • Scroll down and select Inbox, then select a message to read. Most recent messages are at the top of the list. • Select a message to read. • To reply or delete the message press the Green Call Key to select Options. 17 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 19 9/04/13 11:50 AM TYPING The letters of the alphabet are arranged on keys 2-9. The letter entered depends on how many times you press the key. For example to type the name John, you press the 5 key once for J, then press the 6 key three times for the letter O, press the 4 key twice for H and then the 6 key twice for N. Handy Hint To insert a space press the 0 key. Press the 1 key multiple times for common punctuation marks. Use the arrow keys to scroll through and press the Green Call Key to select a mode. Text Mode Function eZiEng Predictive abc Lowercase Abc Sentence case ABC Uppercase 123 Numbers F t 6 b h K P t USING PREDICTIVE TEXT (eZiEng) Predictive text uses a built in dictionary to match possible words. Words can be entered more efficiently using a single key press for each letter, as opposed to multiple key presses in Abc Text Mode. 19 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 21 9/04/13 11:50 AM For example to type the name John press the 5 key once, 6 key, 4 key and then the 6 key. A list of suggestions will appear below. The first suggestion ‘John’ will be highlighted in blue. Press the Green Call Key to select. Press the 0 key to add a space and begin typing the next word. Tips •Press the # key to raise the case. Eg. david>David. •Use the arrow keys to choose from available words and press the Green Call Key to select. •If a word you are typing is not listed in the dictionary then you can type the word one-two letters at a time. 20 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 22 9/04/13 11:50 AM MANAGING YOUR CONTACTS When you switch on your handset it reads the contacts from your current SIM card. You can copy these contacts to your Phone by following the instructions on the next page. When you add a new contact you can choose to save it to your Phone or SIM card. andy Hint H Before you can import your contacts to your new phone, you’ll need to make sure they’re saved to the SIM card. 21 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 23 9/04/13 11:50 AM OPENING YOUR CONTACT LIST AND ADDING A NEW CONTACT • Select Menu, then select Phone Book. • Select Add New Contact and choose to Save to the SIM card or Phone. • Press the Green Call Key to Edit Name and up to two numbers. Press Done to finish. COPY CONTACTS FROM SIM CARD • Select Menu, then select Phone Book. • Scroll down to Copy All and select OK. • Scroll down to highlight From (U)SIM to copy all contacts to phone. • Select Yes to confirm. 22 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 24 9/04/13 11:50 AM ALERT SWITCH The Alert Switch on the back of the handset can be programmed to sound an alert tone and call and/or send a text message (SMS) simultaneously. This is particularly useful in emergency situations. Enable/Disable •Select Menu, then scroll down and select Settings. •Scroll down to Switch Setup and press Green Call Key for OK. •Press OK to select the first option Switch. •Use the arrow keys to select On or Off, then use Green Call Key for OK. •Whenever you flick the switch on the back of the phone your Switch Settings will activate. 23 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 25 9/04/13 11:50 AM Switch Setup T o preset contacts when Switch is activated: •Select Menu, then scroll down and select Settings. •Scroll down to Switch Setup and press Green Call Key for OK. •Select Switch Number and press OK. 24 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 26 9/04/13 11:50 AM •You can enter a number that you would like to contact in emergency situations. The number entered in Position 1 will be contacted via Voice Call when the switch is activated. The numbers entered from position 2-5 will receive a preset text message. andy Hint H You do not have to set a number for all positions 1-5. For example if you only want to send a text message to one person then only enter a number in position 2. 25 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 27 9/04/13 11:50 AM To activate/deactivate alert tone: •Select Menu, then scroll down and select Settings. •Scroll down to Switch Setup and press Green Call Key for OK. •Select Volume and press OK. •You can select from Off, Low Medium or Loud. • If you select Low, Medium or Loud the Alert tone will sound when the switch on the back of the phone is activated and will continue to sound until the switch is pushed back into original position. 26 5526 120x90 Telstra Easy call Black_BLUE.indd 28 9/04/13 11:50 AM To preset a text message: •Select Menu, then scroll down and select Settings. •Scroll down to Switch Setup and press Green Call Key for OK. • Select Switch SMS and press OK. • Enter message. For example you can enter: “Please help, urgent assistance needed. Slide the switch on the side of the handset to switch the torch On or Off. See page 5 for FM Radio switch location. FM Radio Setup You can preset channels to your preferred station. •Select Option - Channel List - Option Edit to enter a new channel directly. •Enter your preferred station using the number keys. Press the * key to enter a decimal point. •Select Option - Channel List - Option Play to play the selected Channel. andy Hint H Reception is improved by connecting the AC Charger or earphone lead.
