JACK’S STORY
At age 3, Jack began playing rugby league.
He was nicknamed the ‘speed bump’ as
he would not stop the older boys but slow
them down. Jack finished school to start
a plumbing apprenticeship at the age of
17 and decided, on his employers request,
to give up footy as he could not afford any
time off work due to injury.
A few months later Jack was walking home
from work and was attacked by two young
men who mistook him for someone else.
After this terrifying incident, Jack was
determined to learn how to defend himself
and googled local boxing gyms. His research
of boxing gyms led him to join South Side
Boxing the next day where he began with
boxing basics and rapidly excelled.
JACK BRUBAKER
JACK’S STORY
On the eve of Jack’s 18 birthday, he had
his first amateur fight at Cronulla Leagues
Club, which he won by TKO.
After that initial win, Jack was hooked
and continued to fight, winning State
Titles and eventually turning professional
at the age of 20.
Balancing full time work while studying
for his plumbing license, training and
participating in his first nine professional
fights eventually became impossible
and when he was offered the fight on the
Danny Green undercard, Jack gave up
his day job to devote himself to training full
time. It was this decision that enabled Jack
to rise to the level of a world class fighter,
opening up the real possibility of realising
his goal of becoming world champ.
JACK BRUBAKER
JACK’S PROFESSIONAL BOXING RECORD IS 13 FIGHTS
FOR 11 WINS, 1 LOSS & 1 DRAW.
HIS ONLY DEFEAT WAS IN A COMPETITIVE FIGHT FOR THE AUSTRALIAN TITLE
IN 2013 WHICH WAS VOTED AS ONE OF THE TOP 5 FIGHTS OF THE YEAR.

THE FIGHTS
Main Event – Yang Xin Xing (Melbourne)
After his crushing third round knockout victory over seasoned veteran Ruben
Kennedy in Jack’s 9th professional fight (Main Event Club Punchbowl: 13/03/2015),
Jack was offered the opportunity of a lifetime – to challenge for the WBC Youth
World Welterweight Championship in Melbourne on 19th August, 2015, at the
Hisense Arena as the main undercard bout against WBC Youth World Welterweight
Champion, Yang Xin Xing of China on the Danny Green Vs Tamas Kovacs card.
The WBC is the most highly respected of the world boxing sanctioning bodies,
with the Youth Title designated for boxes under 24 years of age. To give himself
the best possible chance to win this fight, Jack gave up his plumbing job to train
full time and pursue a boxing career. After dropping the Chinese champion twice
in the first round, Brubaker continued to dominate the fight. In round 4 of the
12-round title fight, Jack stopped Yin with a devastating one-punch KO, not only
winning the WBC Youth World Title, but also picking up the vacant OPBF
Welterweight in a fight-of-the-night performance.

THE FIGHTS
Fox Sports – Paddy Murphy (Sydney)
After experiencing some soreness in his right hand during training camp. Jack
consulted a hand specialist two weeks prior to the fight. It was discovered he had a
hairline fracture down the centre of one knuckle and a small tear in his tendon. Not
wanting to let down his fans and promoter, Jack decided to go ahead with the fight
and let the specialist manage his injury. The fight was held at The Sydney Olympic
Netball Stadium on Fox Sports 2 fight night with Jack once again headlining.
During the first round, Jack dominated with clean sharp jabs and a good pace.
Feeling great going into the 2nd round, Jack threw a straight right catching
Paddy Murphy flush on his forehead as he tried to duck the punch which in turn
simultaneously crushing two metacarpal bones in Jack’s weakened right hand. Jack
continued showing heart and determination dropping Paddy to the canvas in the 3rd,
5th rounds and three times in the 6th round winning by TKO to retain his title and give
Jack a top 30 WBC (World Boxing Council) welterweight rating.

THE FIGHTS
OPBF – Suyon Takayama (Tokyo Japan)
Jack’s latest fight was on the 25th July, when he traveled to Tokyo Japan
to defend his OPBF belt for the second time against interim title holder
Suyon Takayama, who held an impressive record of 24 wins 1 loss during
a six-year winning streak. Takayama’s a local favourite, having all 24
wins at Korakuen Hall where the fight was to be contested against the
young Australian. In a 12-round battle, Jack fought Suyon round by round
showing courage and determination against a strong and fierce opponent,
and despite climbing off the canvas for the first time in his career in the
11th round, Jack did what many Australians have failed to do before him
and won in Japan via points decision. After being booed in the ring, Jack
was cheered back to the change rooms while stopping for photos, having
gained the respect and support of the Japanese fans.
