City of Aurora’s Adult Co-Ed Basketball League Rules
1. Players must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Players must be listed on team’s roster and can only play on one team.
3. New players can be picked up through out the league but must be put on the roster before the
start of the game they will be playing in and no new players can be placed on a team after the
last game of the regular season.
4. Playing shirts will be provided and will include a 6” number on the back only. Every team will
have a different color of shirt to wear.
5. Players must wear shoes.
6. Four players are needed to start the game. After that a team may play with as little as three
players. There are no requirements regarding gender of players and playing time.
7. If a game ends with a tied score then a 2-minute over time period will be allotted. If at the end
of the over time period the score remains tied then the game will end as a tie.
8. There will be two time outs allowed per team per half.
9. Only the head coach may call time-outs or the team captain if the coach is not present.
10. Dunking is allowed but hanging on the rim is not. Two points will be allotted to the opposing
team if an individual is found to be excessively hanging on a rim.
11. Games will consist of two 20-minute halves with a two minute half-time. There will be 3
minutes between each game and game time is forfeit time. If your team does not have 4
players at the precise time your team is supposed to play then your team forfeits the game.
12. The clock will run continuously except for the last two minutes unless there is a 20 point lead.
13. Forfeits must be done in a timely manner. If a team has more than one forfeit where they did
not notify the Recreation and Events Coordinator at least 5 hours before the start of the game
then that team will get assessed a $25 forfeit fee. That team will not be allowed to play another
game until the fee is paid. If a team forfeits two games with out notifying the Recreation and
Events Coordinator that team will be dropped from the league with out a refund.
14. No protests are allowed on judgment calls.
15. All complaints must be directed to the Recreation and Events Coordinator.
16. Any player, coach or audience member that threatens the integrity of the game will be
suspended for that game only.
17. Any player that starts a fight will be dropped from the league.
18. Profanity will result in a team warning. If profanity continues a technical foul will be
administered.
19. Technical fouls will result in two free throws for the opposing team plus possession of the ball.
20. Any individual that is given two technical fouls due to disrespectful behavior must leave the
building.
21. All individuals that are asked to leave must do so with in 2 minutes and with out a sound.
22. Refusal to follow the rules will result in a forfeit for that team.
23. This league will follow the M.S.H.S.A.A. rules except as noted.

Playing shirts will be provided for each individual up to 10 people per team. All additional
players will be charged the shirt cost of $5.00. If your team has a preference as to what color
their shirt is please put that here. _________________________________________________
The shirts given out as awards for the end of season tournament are different than the playing
shirts.
By signing this all players accept the fact that they will be participating in physical activities and that the potential
for accidents does exist. All players also agree to assume the risk of such exercise and further agree to hold
harmless the City of Aurora and its staff members conducting the program from any and all claims, suits or related
causes of action for damages arising in any way from this league.
