Acceptable Documents to Prove AmeriCorps Eligibility AmeriCorps Members must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident to be eligible to serve. AmeriCorps Members are also required to prove their age and identity. Below is a complete list of documents that are acceptable to satisfy both the requirements above. To Prove your AmeriCorps Eligibility: You are required to provide one (1) of the following documents: o Government-Issued* Birth Certificate from one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, or Northern Mariana Islands *When the regulations refer to a birth certificate they refer to a legal document certified by and registered with a State’s office of vital statistics (often through local vital statistic branches). Although the official document that states the child’s name, place of birth, parents’ names, and so forth is often filled in at the hospital, it should not be confused with documents distributed by some hospitals that have no legal significance. o U.S. Passport (if expired, must be accompanied by a current government-issued photo ID) o FS-240 Report of Birth Abroad o FS-545 Certification of Birth Abroad o DS-1350 Certification of Report of Birth o N-550 or N-570 Certificate of U.S. Citizenship o N-560 or N561 Certificate of U.S. Naturalization o I-551 Permanent Resident Card/Alien Registration Receipt o Foreign Passport with a stamp or text which states that USCIS has approved this document as temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence. o USCIS Form I-94 Departure record with a stamp or text which states that USCIS has approved this document as temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence. o Enhanced Driver's License issued by the State of Minnesota To Prove your Age and Identity: You are required to provide one (1) of the following unexpired documents: o State-issued Driver’s License o State-issued Identification Card o Military Identification Card o U.S. Passport o Permanent Resident Card o Note: If your form of identification is expired, clipped, or stamped “Void”, we are required to view a receipt indicating that a replacement has been requested within the last 60 days AND the expired, clipped, or voided ID card. Please note that some documents may satisfy multiple requirements above. A Reading Corps, Math Corps, or Opportunity Corps staff member must see the original document in person for verification purposes. The table below is additional format of the list above.
