Acceptable Documents to
Prove AmeriCorps Eligibility
AmeriCorps Members must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident to
be eligible to serve. AmeriCorps Members are also required to prove their age and
identity. Below is a complete list of documents that are acceptable to satisfy both the

certified by and registered with a State’s office of vital statistics (often through
local vital statistic branches). Although the official document that states the child’s
name, place of birth, parents’ names, and so forth is often filled in at the hospital,
it should not be confused with documents distributed by some hospitals that have
no legal significance.
