T-BALL RULES
GENERAL

All children shall play the entire game, in the field and at bat.
60 minutes of playing time (30 minute practice + 30 minute game).
All games must start and end promptly at the scheduled time.
All children should line-up and shake hands with opposing team immediately following the game.
Scores will not be recorded or posted. All players will receive the same award at season end.
Weekly Sportsmanship medal presented to one child each week.
BATTING

Every team shall bat until the entire line-up has hit each inning. No outs will be recorded.
All batters swing until they hit the ball.Once the ball is hit, the batter will run to 1 st base and stop.
The ball must travel at least 8 feet from the tee in fair territory.
The last batter in the line-up will hit a grand slam. Thus, clearing the bases and the teams will switch sides.
Instruct players to drop the bat after hitting the ball! Keep other players a sufficient distance away from home plate.
There is no penalty for batting out of turn.
Any player arriving after a game has begun should be inserted in the batting order in the last position.
BASERUNNING

No leading or stealing the bases. Run only upon a hit.
Runners may not advance to the next base on any over-throws.
Sliding is notpermitted.

All fielders must stand beyond the infield arch-line when a child is at bat.

All players must rotate positions each inning.

T-Balls with a Reduced Injury Factor (RIF) Level 1 shall be used.
Only non-composite regulation T-Ball bats (2 1/4” diameter barrel) are allowed. Wooden bats are not allowed.
A batting helmet (with a baseball hat underneath) must be worn by: the batter, on-deck, and all base runners.
Sneakers or rubber cleats may be worn. No metal spikes!
No player may wear any type of metal objects or jewelry.
VOLUNTEERS
27. All coaches and parents are allowed on the field as needed to assist.
28. Volunteers may not touch a batted ball in play!
29. No umpires will be used in T-Ball play.

The coach will throw 3 pitches to his own players. If unsuccessful, a Tee is used until the player hits the ball in fair territory.
The coach will pitch over-hand and is allowed to pitch from one-knee (like throwing a dart to teach a “level swing”)

Batting

Each player will get 5 hits or 7 swings
All other players will play the field and throw the balls to the Coach
Rotate through group 10-15 minutes
Catching and throwing
1. Each child will have a baseball (line up along baseline).
2. Practice throwing the ball to a parent/coach or player:
a. Place the ball next to their ear (like listening to a conch shell)
b. Step with opposite foot
c. Throw
d. Continue for 10 minutes
3. Parent/coach/player will roll the ball back to the player:
a. Player will practice receiving ground balls by placing one knee on the ground and
putting glove between knee and their foot.
b. Continue for 5-10 minutes
Base Running
1. Have each child run around the bases (timing them) counting out loud (provide praise when
finished).
2. Coach will pretend to hit the ball off the Tee and the player will run to first base and stop.
a. Teach player to run through 1st base, have coach behind base to give a “high five” to
facilitate the skill.
3. Coach will pretend to hit the ball off the Tee and one player will run to first base and the other to
second base.
4. Continue until all the kids run around all the bases stopping at each base until the next ball is hit.

All other players will play the field and throw the balls to the Coach
Rotate through group 10-15 minutes

2. Split players into 2 groups:
a. Half will play the infield positions: 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, P
b. Other half will hit and run the bases.
3. Player will hit the ball off the Tee and run the bases based on the hit. (Need 1st base Coach to
help runner).
4. 2nd Coach will be responsible for putting the ball on the Tee and helping the fielders with the
base to throw to.
5. Switch after all players have hit.
6. Continue until time elapses.
