Intramural Sports Graduate Assistant Position Description 2015-2016 11-MONTH POSITION BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 2015 Employment beginning in June or July is an option and preferred Responsibilities: 1. Assist the Senior Coordinator for Intramural Sports, the Specialist for Intramural Sports, and another graduate assistant with the implementation and coordination of the intramural sports program. 2. Promote, supervise, and coordinate assigned intramural sports programs each semester. 3. Prepare all materials for information fairs, sign-ups, postseason captains’ meetings and officials’ meetings. 4. Formulate questions and monitor Captains Quizzes and assist in running Postseason Captains’ meetings. 5. Attend all officials’ meetings for assigned sports and assist the Specialist for Intramural Sports with training, scheduling, and evaluating of student officials. 6. Assist in scheduling student staff utilizing When To Work scheduling software. 7. Prepare all reports, forms, and score sheets needed for assigned programs. 8. Post and update website regularly for deadlines for upcoming programs and meetings. 9. Assist in scheduling regular season and tournament games/matches with the Specialist for Intramural Sports and the Senior Coordinator for Intramural Sports. 10. Monitor defaults, forfeits, and rankings throughout the season. 11. Create a folder for each assigned program; include all materials, a final report, and an evaluation on the program. 12. Attend assigned sports/programs regularly. 13. Minimum one night a week of intramural program supervision at the Rec Sports Complex/Ramsey Student Center. 14. Attend Recreational Sports and Intramural Sports staff meetings as assigned. 15. Assist with coordination of extramural events held on campus and throughout the region. 16. Assist with Summer Youth Camp Program. 17. Represent the department at information events and programs. 18. Fulfill additional departmental duties as assigned. Qualifications: 1. Earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, Recreation, or related field. 2. Intramural sports work experience (scorekeeper, supervisor, or official) required. 3. Acceptance in a graduate program at the University of Georgia. 4. Must be a motivated individual who has a serious interest in intramural sports and/or officiating. 5. American Red Cross first aid and CPRO with AED certification required. 6. Must be available to work by August 1, 2015.
