AYSO – Fall 2011 COACH MEETING 1) ROSTERS - Please review team roster names. Make sure you have a signed copy of the registration form for medical and contact reasons. Please carry these to practice and games. Contact players immediately – by end of weekend ALL players must be contacted. Inform age coordinator of any player drops so we can add a wait listed player if possible. Rosters will be placed on website this coming week (www.ayso-soccer.com) Select a team parent. Have them work out the all important snack and drink schedule. Create a phone calling tree and e-mail list for quick contacts. Give the Shutterfly information to the team parent and they can create a team website. If you don’t want to use Shutterfly, see the website for a template you may use for snack schedule and phone tree. Birthdates: U14 8/1/97 thru 7/31/99 U12 8/1/99 thru 7/31/01 U10 8/1/01 thru 7/31/03 U8 8/1/03 thru 7/31/05 U6 8/1/05 thru 7/31/06 U5 8/1/06 thru 7/31/07 2) REFEREES - When contacting players please identify a team referee (except U-5 and U-6). Each team should have a team referee. AYSO will have a referee training course for those volunteers that need it. Anyone over age 12 may be trained as a referee. The home team is to provide the referee for the game. If no home team ref is available, then the visiting team supplies a ref. If no referee is available from either team, then a coach is to be on the field to act as the referee. When a coach is acting as referee they are not allowed to coach. Only ONE coach is allowed on the field and only if there is no referee. No parents or coaches behind nets. Please make an effort after every game to thank the referees personally. Referee Training Course: Tuesday, September 6 (part 1) and Thursday, September 8 (part 2) FHC High School 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM – classroom to be determined. We are currently in need of a ref administrator. If you know of someone who may be interested please contact us. UNIFORMS –Each player is supplied a shirt, shorts, and a pair of socks. They’ll need to buy shin guards and cleats. Coaches/teams may pickup uniforms after meeting. Uniforms must be collected by the coach at the end of the season. 4) SCHEDULES - Game schedules will be posted on website. The first game of season is Saturday, September 10. Last Game is Saturday, October 29. Schedules will be posted on www.ayso-soccer.com. UNOFFICIAL GAME VENUE U5/U6 – Ada Park U8 Boys – Knapp Forest U8 Girls – Northeast Park (Kentwood) U10 Boys – Central Woodlands U10 Girls – Northern Trails U12 Girls – FHN Bowl U12 Boys – FHN Bowl U14 Boys and Girls – Cascade Park (Field by Highway) 5) PRACTICES - One practice per week starting September 5 – some practice fields may not be striped or have nets. 6) COACH TRAINING – Coach training is now mandated for U6, and U8. It may be done online or in person. For online training go to www.aysotraining.org . You will need your AYSO ID#, which is available on your volunteer form, or at eayso.org. For U-5, U-6, and U-8 coaches will be held on Monday, August 29 from 6:00-9:00 at Forest Hills Park Association. Meet in the building to start, but dress to be outside. If U-10, U12, and U-14 coaches are interested we will offer coach training on Thursday, September 1 from 6:00-9:00 at Forest Hills Park Association. Meet in the building to start, but dress to be outside. 7) SAFE HAVEN TRAINING - Now available on-line. We need to have 100% participation. You’ll need your AYSO ID# which is available online at www.eayso.org 8) PRE-GAME MEETINGBefore each game, be sure to introduce yourself to the opposing coach and referee. Hand referee a game card. Make sure that you both have an equal number of players. Plan to meet again at half time if the differential is 5 goals or more. 9) POST-GAME Players and coaches should line up for a handshake. Be sure to also thank the officials. Collect the game card from them and keep it in your folder. Inspect the field for trash and lost items before leaving. 10) END OF SEASON – Coaches must collect all uniforms at the end of the season. A free team picture will be given to every player that shows up for the team picture day. There will be an end of season coaches meeting. Please hold on to your folder with the player forms and game cards. If you will not be coaching in the spring season, please turn in all forms, cards and uniforms to the age coordinator. 11) SAFETY ISSUES – Any type of accident, please fill out accident report and notify safety director. This needs to be done within 30 days. Do not attempt to provide care for a serious injury. Call 911 and ask for proper assistance. [email protected] Safety Director: Ed Tokarek 12) TEAM PICTURES – Team pictures will be taken on September 17. Teams may have their pictures taken at Ada Park or at Central Woodlands. Please give yourself enough time to get the picture and make it to the game. Remember, everyone that shows up gets a free team photo. Photographers are there at 8:30 and leave around 12:00. If you cannot make it during that time please contact Jim Hill Photography in advance. (Identify yourself as an AYSO coach.) 13) WEATHER – If you see lightning or hear thunder, immediately stop playing and take shelter. 30 minutes after last clap of thunder or last flash of lightning, you may resume game or practice. You may only play during your scheduled time. There are no makeup games. Two coaches can schedule times among themselves during the week if they want to play. 14) GOAL DIFFERENTIAL – If margin is 5 goals – winning coach should play defensively. If margin increases to 7 then the game is over. Teams may then mix teams and scrimmage for remainder of the allotted time. Please notify age coordinator if coaches are violating this rule. 15) GAME DIRECTIVES No pets Use proper sized ball – see specific rules for your division No older age division player are allowed to play in younger division No Non-registered player to play in game or practice Only use certified referees - referee must be at least 12 years old Keep number of players on each team even – lend a player if needed Field Cleanup – fields are valuable commodity – pickup trash when leaving 16) ADOPT A COACH Finding coaches in a volunteer program is always difficult. Thank you for volunteering. We would like you to keep your eyes out this year for parents with the potential to coach. Consider bringing them in to a practice to have them work some specific drills for you. Encourage them to help out next season. 17) TEAM NIGHT AT DICK’S SPORTING GOODS On September 8, all AYSO families will receive a page of special coupons and will also get 15% off their total purchase. Please inform the families about this. The coupon to receive the 15% off needs to be printed off and is available on our website, aysosoccer.com. 18) PLEASE HAVE FUN! This is supposed to be fun for the kids and the coaches.
